Happy birthday to prolific composer Cécile Chaminade, born on this day in 1857! Chaminade published over 400 works in her lifetime, and although she was a pianist, left a unique legacy within the flute world.

Welcome to this summer’s third installment of Fluting Feature Friday! This month, we’re thrilled to begin highlighting the Utah Flute Association’s founding members. Today, we’re excited to bring Sally Humphreys to your feed!

Sally Humphreys is enjoying the pleasures of the retired life! Her career as a professional flutist included 35 years with the Ballet West Orchestra, many performances with the Utah Symphony, teaching at Westminster University and in her private studio, and having too much fun with her buddies in the woodwind quintet Aspen Winds. Sally is vice-president of the American Federation of Musicians - Local 104. She acted as the local arrangements chair for the National Flute Association, helping to bring the 2019 NFA convention to Salt Lake City.
