For over twenty years The Good Samaritan Program has been serving the less fortunate in our community. By providing a meal, referrals, personal care items and direct assistance to those in need, we have been a vital source of nourishment and stability for those who come to our door. The Good Samaritan Program is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are committed to the
service of all who seek help, regardless of religious background or affiliation. We keep bureaucracy to a minimum and put our money into direct assistance. Our goal is to provide immediate, personalized and efficient service to those who seek help The Good Samaritan Program hands out approximately 8,000 sack lunches per month. We also provide assistance with basic needs; including personal care items, clothing, shoes and blankets in cold weather, and catastrophic aid. Under the leadership of a volunteer coordinator and the volunteer advisory board, our 120 volunteers contribute about 7500 hours yearly and assist over 300 people weekly. Volunteers make and distribute all of the sack lunches we hand out each month. Our volunteers also run our annual appeal which raises about $30,000 annually. A truly ecumenical effort, our organization works with other religious groups, corporations and food banks in assembling all of the food necessary to make our sack lunches which benefit a population almost entirely comprised of homeless and poverty stricken individuals and families. Following the parable of the Good Samaritan, all who participate in the program take seriously the responsibility to illustrate that human kindness and fellow feeling must be available to all.
