💙❄️💙❄️💙❄️💙Soon the longest night of the year will be here, without invitation it occurs…much like grief. We at The Sharing Place walk beside your family through the long, shadowed nights. At the heart of our work is an invitation: to honor every feeling, tender or harsh, sorrowful or bright. And as the Winter Solstice turns the wheel of light and dark, may you discover a quiet warmth glowing within the night. 💙❄️💙❄️💙❄️

How are you gently honoring the shifting tides of your feelings as the season turns?

The holidays can be full of lights, traditions, and togetherness — and they can also be a time when grief feels louder.

Missing someone at the table.
Noticing the empty space in familiar traditions.
Feeling joy and sadness all at once.

If you’re grieving this season, please know: you’re not doing it wrong. There is no “right” way to hold joy and loss at the same time. It’s okay to laugh, to cry, to opt out, to show up differently than you used to.

At The Sharing Place, we often remind families — especially children — that grief doesn’t take a holiday break. And neither does love. The people we miss are still part of our stories, our memories, and our traditions, even when things look different.

Be gentle with yourself this season. Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. And remember: you are not alone.

What gift did your person who died give you that you treasure today? 🎁 We are having a lot of discussions this month about the holiday season and those special gifts we wish we could give to our loved ones and the gifts we hold onto tightly in their memory. Holidays can be filled with fun and excitement and for some, dread and anxiety anticipating the big feelings of missing our loved ones who are no longer with us. If you know someone who is grieving this holiday season, we encourage you to reach out and offer support and connection. 🤶🏻❤️🧑‍🎄

It’s GIVING TUESDAY!

Grief support is our passion, and we take great pride in being a resource to families who have lost a loved one, as well as those who interact with children affected by grief.

The Sharing Place’s mission is to provide a safe and caring environment for grieving children, teens, and their families to share their feelings while healing themselves. This is achieved through support groups that emphasize acknowledging any and all feelings related to grief, connection with others experiencing grief, and channeling feelings through art, play, and discussion.

Please remember The Sharing Place and Utah’s grieving children. Our goal is to raise $30,000. Please make your gift right now on this Giving Tuesday.

The Sharing Place frequently works with professionals in the community who are often the first to know when a child has lost a family member. Whether you’re a school teacher or counselor, nurse, pediatrician, or therapist, we can assist you by providing information to share with your students or patients. Please visit our website for documents you may find helpful in assisting grieving children and their families.

Through our Outreach program, we partner with interested public schools and community centers to serve at-risk families which would not otherwise have the opportunity to utilize our grief support services.

Grief support is our passion, and we take great pride in being a resource to those who interact with children affected by grief. Nurses, teachers, and counselors are often the first to know about a child’s grieving situation. We provide educational materials to these professionals on topics such as what resources are available and how grief alters children’s behaviors.

Our experienced outreach staff considers special requests such as hosting custom group sessions, conducting weekly sessions at an elementary school, or meeting with a group of professionals or organization for a one-time speaking engagement. Depending on the request, we may suggest a donation in return for our time and effort.

We currently are partnered with the following school or organizations:
• Kennedy Junior High School
• Glendale Middle School
• Mountain View Elementary
• Mount Jordan Middle School
• Meadowlark Elementary
• Franklin Elementary
• Valley Crest Elementary

We offer adult support to families with grieving children.

The adult groups are designed to provide emotional and social support, and also provide a forum for participants to discuss specific issues or gain general information to understand the needs and behaviors of grieving children and teens. Please note, you must have a child in our program in order to attend our adult parent/caregiver support groups. These adult groups run concurrently to the child groups, so child and caregiver can attend on the same night of the week and be matched to families with similar circumstances.

This Giving Tuesday, please remember The Sharing Place and Utah’s grieving children. Our goal is to raise $30,000. Please make your gift.

Remembering a loved one on this Thanksgiving holiday?

Since 1993, The Sharing Place has been fulfilling its mission to “provide a safe and caring environment for grieving children, teens, and their families to share their feelings while healing themselves.” This is achieved through a support group model that emphasizes acknowledging any and all feelings related to grief, connection with others experiencing grief, and channeling feelings through art, play, and discussion.

This Giving Tuesday, please remember The Sharing Place and Utah’s grieving children. Our goal is to raise $30,000. Please make your gift.

This season is often called the “season of family”. There is a heightened awareness of who is missing at the table as we gather. It’s a season where we have the opportunity to remember those who have been important to us. One of our school age groups made luminaries to light at the table this Thanksgiving holiday. 🍁🦃 All of us here at The Sharing Place wish you all a Thanksgiving of love and many blessings. 🦃 🍽️ 🍁🧡🤎💛
