On April 7, 2026, the Salt Lake City Council will consider adopting a request to change the zoning from MU-3 to MU-8 mixed-use on the private lot at the corner of 1300 E and 2100 S (located at the northwest corner of Sugar House Park). The proposed zone would allow buildings up to 90 feet tall and permit hotels.

Big or small, one or many, ALL DOGS must be on leash in Sugar House Park. Why, you ask?
🚧 Physical safety of other humans, dogs, and wildlife
💩 A park free of dog waste. No one likes seeing, smelling, or stepping in dog p**p. Pet waste is raw sewage and can transmit bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens to humans and other animals, including tapeworms, roundworms, E. coli, Giardia, Salmonella, and more.
💧 A cleaner Sugar House Pond. Unscooped p**p in the park ends up in Parley's Creek and the pond, which causes excess algae and a rise in bacteria and viruses.

Celebrate the Spring season at Sugar House Park! The pears, plum, and elm trees are in bloom and the weather is perfect for the playground or a walk around the loop road. We need everyone be a steward of the park and follow park rules. Remember:

🐩🐕‍🦺 Dogs must be on leash!
🚘 Speed limit is 20 mph
🔄 Vehicle traffic is one-way (counterclockwise)
💵 No vending in the park. Do not buy from anyone selling within Sugar House Park.
🚯 Put trash in a bin and pick up after your dogs.

Park open until 10 p.m. Daylights savings brings extended hours to the park.

Parley’s Creek Restroom (center) is open. Hidden Grove Restroom (east) will remain closed.

Tomorrow at 10 AM is an arboretum walk in Sugar House Park followed by mulching around new trees.

Join us this Saturday (March 7) at Sugar House Park for a MULCH MADNESS event, to help beautify, care for and protect some of the youngest and newest tree additions to the park! You’ll walk away from this event knowing you have contributed to the growth and life of several tree groves at the park! And before we begin mulching, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about some of Sugar House Park Arboretum’s most iconic trees, with our arborist Pascal, on a short and sweet tour!
When? Saturday, March 7th at 10am.
Where? We’re meeting across from Parley’s Creek Pavilion at Sugar Hiuse Park (2100 S 1300 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84106).

First week of December is Avalanche Awareness Week. Join the Utah Avalanche Center and the Division of Outdoor Recreation for activities from December 1-7, 2025.

Yesterday 12/1/25, Utah Avalanche Center kicked off the awareness week at Sugar House Park with the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation and Intermountain Health Life Flight.
