Imagine fleeing your home and finding yourself in a new county, starting from scratch and unable to communicate. Learning a new language is not something most of us can master in a few weeks. Women of the World offers Intensive English sessions that run 3 hours a day, 4 days a week for 10 weeks providing a foundation on which self-reliance cab be built. It is not easy. Often, these cohorts are made up of women from all over the globe - many of whom speak many different languages, coming together to learn English. And still - month after month, year after year, our women continue to show up, work hard and take this important step. We couldn't be more proud of each and every one of them!

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated their time or resources this past month to give our childcare room a complete makeover!! This is one of the most important rooms in our building as it's where our clients leave their VIP's while they attend english classes, job readiness workshops, important appointments or other classes and it's needed some love for a while now.

Your generosity means the world to us and on behalf of us and our clients - THANK YOU - our room looks (and feels) amazing!!

If you're planning on seeing the new Odyssey movie, please read this post from our friends at International Rescue Committee. People are still fleeing their countries in search of safety. It's not something that has gone away.

Around 3,000 years ago, the Greek poet Homer wrote about an epic journey across the Mediterranean in search of home. Today, we see a parallel playing out in the stories of the millions of refugees who’ve fled wars and faced the waves in search of a better life.

Much like in The Odyssey, the route towards a safe place to call home is lined with danger. The people making this journey include men, women and children, most of whom have already lost everything.

Today, as we mark the release of the film "The Odyssey," we are reminded of the over 118 million people who have been forcibly displaced around the world. Whether they’re crossing countries, continents or the high seas, we’ll never stop advocating for safe routes to a place to call home.
