Women of the World

Empowering women from all nations to achieve independence, economic success, and a voice in the community. We are proud but protective mothers.

Our stories are more tangled, yet inspiring, than any novel or self-help book on the shelf. Our volunteers and associates are women who have seen war and violence. The women in our organization were child and arranged brides. Our tears crease through wrinkled valleys of hope. Our hope drives us to help other women; the example of a mother’s diligence against all odds, ensures our success. Seeing w

Congratulations to our Founder and CEO, Samira Harnish, for being recognized with the 2026 YWCA Utah Outstanding Achievement Award in Equity & Human Rights. She will be honored alongside the other 2026 cohort members at YWCA Utah's celebrated LeaderLuncheon, which will take place on October 2nd at the Grand America Hotel.

Together, we come to support YWCA Utah's mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, and to invest in a future where every individual and family has the opportunity to thrive.

Women of the World client and friend, Olha Svieshnikova, () is a Ukranian artist rebuilding her life after displacement. She channels her journey into emotionally driven abstract paintings that explore transformation and resilience.

She's been nominated (and has quickly risen in the ranks) for the Johnny Depp People's Artist Award. The winner of this competition receives $25,000, a feature in Artforum Magazine, and a display of her work at The Art of Elysium's Salon.

A huge thank you to our amazing community partners at Zions Bank for choosing Women of the World as a recipient of this year's Paint-A-Thon!

Their dedicated volunteers spent the weekend & weekday repainting our welcome area, classrooms, and hallway, creating a brighter, warmer, and more inviting space for the women and families we serve. The impact was immediate—our clients, visitors, and staff have all commented on how beautiful and welcoming the office feels.

At Women of the World, we know that creating a sense of belonging begins the moment someone walks through our doors. Thanks to the generosity and kindness of the Zions Bank volunteers, our classrooms and gathering spaces now reflect the dignity, respect, and welcome that every woman deserves.

We are deeply grateful for this partnership and for the caring hands and hearts that made this transformation possible. Thank you, Zions Bank, for investing in our mission and in the women we serve every day.

Through Women of the World, Malak has found a space to celebrate her culture, support other women, and pursue her dreams — she's already earned her bachelor's degree and is now working toward a second degree in nursing.

In 2025, WoW impacted 1,777 clients from over 99 countries, creating a community where women from every background can lift each other up and build the futures they came here for. 💙

Meet Mariangel 🇻🇪! One of the Models from our 2026 Annual Fashion Show.

Through Women of the World, Mariangel found the community, education, and support she needed after arriving in the U.S. with her two daughters and very few resources — and found herself again in the process.

In 2025, WoW welcomed 305 new clients like Mariangel, connecting them to education, emotional support, and a community of women who understand what it means to start over — because no one should have to navigate a new country alone. ❤️

Through Women of the World's personalized case management, Nyabec has had a community that stood beside her through hard times — as a single mother, an immigrant, and so much more.

In 2025, WoW served 1,777 clients total, providing 1,415 hours of personalized case management to help women like Nyabec find solid ground in a new home. 💚
