Friday was a day of celebration, reflection, and gratitude as we joined the YWCA Utah 37th Annual Leader Luncheon to honor Samira Harnish.

Receiving the 2026 Outstanding Achievement Award in Equity & Human Rights is a testament to the leadership, compassion, and commitment she brings to Women of the World every day. We're grateful for her vision and proud to celebrate this incredible milestone alongside her.

Congratulations, Samira! 🧡✨

Women of the World Welcome Event is officially a wrap! 🎉

Our Welcome Week Event is our annual kickoff event, bringing people of all backgrounds together to celebrate connection, inclusion, community, and prosperity. The event featured stories, arts and crafts, vendors, local leaders, community members, animal ambassadors, and more. The day was filled with opportunities to learn and celebrate the immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seeking women in our community. Thank you to everyone who came out. We hope you left with a full stomach, positive energy, and a strong understanding of these wonderful women in our area.

A huge thank you to our sponsors, Western Governors University and Salt Lake County, for making this event possible.

Meet Andrea (Soleta) Schmutz. Miss Idaho for America Strong 2026, founder of Empowering Immigrant Women, and an Educational Leadership PhD Student at the University of Idaho. We're grateful to Andrea for supporting the second annual Women of the World Welcoming Week Open House Event on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Andrea reached out to Women of the World because she knows the importance of building a more welcoming, connected community for all of our neighbors, immigrants and non-immigrants alike. Andrea is an immigrant from the Philippines and knows the challenges of being a woman and living in the United States. That’s why Andrea started Empowering Immigrant Women of Pocatello to help immigrant women in Idaho and across the nation share their stories and inspire other women. If you would like to learn more about Andrea’s amazing work, visit this website: https://sites.google.com/view/empoweringimmigrantwomen/home!

Our annual Fashion Show and Cultural Gala is what we are best known for. The excitement, the energy, it's an incredible experience. The one thing we regularly hear about it, is that people wish they could talk to the models. Have conversations with them and get to know them. Unfortunately, we just don't have that ability during our time at the show.

We do, however, hold our Welcoming Week Open House and Free Block Party each year in September with exactly this in mind. It's an opportunity for anyone in the community to stop by our offices and meet our staff, board and clients - including past models. It's a fantastic opportunity for community members to have meaningful one-on-one conversations with us, meet the community partners that support us, taste food from around the globe, purchase handiwork from our talented clients, or simply tour our offices and get a chance to submerge yourself in our welcoming, women-centered self-sufficiency work we do every single day here at Women of the World.

We would love to invite you to join us next Wednesday, September 16th, here in the parking lot of the WOW Offices at 415 E 3900 S in SLC between 4 pm & 8 pm. The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome in this safe space.
