Sunday morning vibes with the Onaqui Wild Horses.

A windy day out in the Onaqui Horse Management Area. The 2024 PZP darting season has begun. The contraception dart is given to breeding age mares annually, with first time recipients receiving an initial 2 doses prior their first heats. Mares on the range are rotated off the drug to allow them to conceive. This is done in partnership with the BLM. WHOA donates various needed tools, transportation, materials and trained volunteers, while the BLM is the licensed entity that provides most of the drugs needed for vaccinations.
