Empowering Financial Stability & Affordable Housing
At CDCU, we're dedicated to building stronger communities in Utah by empowering individuals and families to achieve financial stability and housing security. Our mission is to provide the tools for financial resilience, and help make housing and homeownership solutions affordable, accessible and adaptable. What We Do:
-Financial Education and Counseling: Offering workshops, 1-on-1 coaching and other resources to improve financial literacy and independence

Ally Bank is one of the main digital banks in the US. They partner with CDCU to help with funding for CDCU's Housing Counseling Program.

Ally's motto is “Do It Right” with the idea that a financial company should demonstrate its values through what it actually does for customers, rather than just what it promises. It's a unified philosophy across their banking, auto finance, insurance and other financial businesses.

In 2024, Ally reported $17.7 million in charitable contributions, more than 61,000 volunteer hours, and 72.8% of employees participating through volunteering or donations. Employees receive paid volunteer time, and Ally provides matching contributions tied to volunteering.

Many new renters may not know what to look out for when applying for a place to live. Like what they should be looking for or asking their landlords, and they may not know how to navigate situations if a problem arises.

CDCU, in partnership with Salt Lake City, has a Tenant Resource Center that can help with finding affordable housing, accessing rental assistance, handling a landlord issues, preventing eviction, reporting unsafe housing and other day-to-day concerns. Low income families in Utah are eligible through local and federal programs to receive help with their energy bills this winter season!

LIHEAP provides federal funding for local agencies to provide energy programs to the community.

More affordable homeownership opportunities are coming to Utah!

Dreaming of owning a home? Affordable homeownership through the CLT model could help make that dream more attainable.

With the help of Salt Lake County Regional Development expanding the Community Land Trust (CLT) program by acquiring land, accepting donations, and building partnerships with municipalities and school districts across the state.

Introducing the Salt Lake City Community Reinvestment Agency!

A “reinvestment agency” is an entity authorized by the State of Utah that implements the development goals of communities and is governed by state statute.

The Community Reinvestment Agency of Salt Lake City (CRA) was established in the summer of 1969 to revitalize areas of Utah’s capital that had experienced disinvestment and neglect.

The CRA has since expanded its impact citywide creating project areas, supporting affordable housing, and investing in neighborhoods. .cra
