Guadalupe Center

For nearly six decades, we’ve been A Place to Learn, Belong and Thrive. Guadalupe School began in 1966 originally as an English as a Second Language Program.

We offer personalized education, life-skills learning, and wrap-around services in one place–for SLC's immigrant, refugee, and impoverished children, parents, and adult learners. Since then we have evolved to include five programs to serve the community. The In-Home program is for parents and new-born children. The program focuses on parenting skills. The Toddler Transitions Program is for childre

n age 2 - 3 years. They receive 20 hours of literacy-based care weekly. The Preschool Program is a transition from home to the classroom. It ensure school readiness with structured small and large group lessons. It’s for children ages 3 - 5 years old. The Charter School Program is for kindergarten through 5th grade. Each class has a full-time teacher and aide. Curriculum focuses on literacy and college-readiness and includes physical exercise and art. The Adult Education is one of the top performing ESL programs in the state. Childcare, limited transportation, and light snacks are provided. U.S. citizenship classes are also offered. It’s officially the first week of school, and we’re feeling extra grateful for the incredible volunteers, partners and community members who helped us get ready for another school year! 💚📚

🎒 Edwards Lifesciences provided 112 backpacks filled with school supplies
✏️ Go Pave Utah donated school supplies for roughly 250 students
🎒 Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) helped stuff backpacks for our students
🧼 PointClickCare purchased all ELC school supplies, snack packs and hygiene kits
🧹 PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) helped with cleaning and maintenance around the school
📦 And thank you to everyone who purchased items from our Amazon Wishlist! Every notebook, pencil, backpack and classroom supply made a difference.

Your support helped make sure our students and teachers had the supplies and spaces they needed to kick off a great school year.

A ribbon cutting worth celebrating! ⚽️💚

Last week, we celebrated the opening of our new soccer field at Guadalupe Center, and we couldn’t have asked for a more fun way to kick things off!

We were joined by players from the Utah Royals FC and Real Salt Lake, along with Cleo and Leo, who brought plenty of energy to the celebration. Our students got to spend time with the players, play soccer together and enjoy an afternoon full of fun on the new field!

A huge thank you to the Andrus Family Foundation and the David Kelby Johnson Memorial Foundation for making this new space possible and for celebrating this milestone with us.

Here’s to many more games, goals and memories on our new field! ✨🎉

The first day of school is here! 📚💚

We’re so excited to welcome our students back and start another year of learning, growing and thriving. And we couldn’t ask for a better welcome than Miss Julie! 🥹

Today is also National Nonprofit Day, and we’re celebrating the people who make our mission possible every single day. From teachers and staff to volunteers, families, partners and supporters, thank you for helping make Guadalupe Center a place where children and families can learn, belong and thrive.

Principal Bertoch searched high and low for our elementary staff… only to find them exactly where they wanted to be: on the new soccer field! ⚽💚

Bravery looks different for everyone. 💚

Our Adult Ed students recently explored what bravery means to them...

These reflections remind us that bravery isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s speaking up in a new language, trying again after making a mistake, or taking the first step toward a brighter future.

We are so grateful to witness these moments of courage and the incredible resilience our students bring to the classroom each day!

Last Friday, we marked this special milestone with our students and their families. We are so proud of the growth, friendships, and memories made throughout the year and loved seeing our little learners take this exciting next step!!
