Frances Marie Maldonado, 95, passed away on August 14th 2026 in Murray, Utah, of causes incident to age. She was born on March 23rd 1931 in Salt Lake City, to Theresa Bruno and Alexander Masock. She was married to Dan E. Maldonado in 1948, and remained married until his passing.

She was a lifelong Utah resident. She graduated from West High school where her friend Heen introduced her to her future husband Dan. Frances had a happy marriage and very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She retired from First Security Bank after 20 years of service, and then devoted time to grandchildren and volunteer activities. In particular, she spent a great deal of time volunteering in elementary classrooms.

Frances is survived by Val (Gerald) Marty, Dan, Mark (Brenda), sister Jimaleen (Lane) Jansma, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her spouse Dan E., brothers, Alex, Paul, John, sisters Joanne, Charlotte, daughter Chris, Son-in-law Michael, Daughter-in-law Donna, grandson David, and now the best of us, son Mark.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, SLC, Ut at 11am on Friday August 28th. A visitation will be held from 10-11am before mass. A funeral luncheon will follow.

Our beautiful wife, mom, and grandma, Cathie Bailey Pearson, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 after a brief and unexpected illness. She was born in Salt Lake City on February 11, 1954 to Robert and Betty Janke Bailey, and was the older sister to David Bailey. She was raised in Rose Park and graduated from West High School in 1972. At an activity at Lindsay Gardens, she caught the eye of a newly-returned missionary who tried to impress her with his football skills. She fell for it, and agreed to go on a date with him. Donald Drew Pearson and Cathie were married on January 17, 1974 in the Salt Lake Temple and she laughed at his jokes every day for the last 52 years- a perfect match. After living in the Trolley Square area at the beginning of their marriage, they eventually moved to Murray, where they have lived for the last 49 years, 43 of those years in the same house.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and followed the Savior's counsel to "love one another". Her life was a life of quiet and selfless service. She always had time for a conversation, a kind word, or to bring a meal to someone. She took such good care of her mother for years and was the living definition of unconditional love as a daughter. She served so many in her family, her neighborhood, and in her church callings. She never wanted any recognition or publicity for her service, it wasn't even something she thought about. It is just who she was. It was just in her nature to serve others.

She was the best mom to her kids Traci Sutherland, Tim (Rachel) Pearson, Jillian (Allen) Mafile'o, and Makell (Luke) McKinnon. We never doubted for one moment that she loved us. She was always so proud of us and wanted nothing but the best for us. The love she had for her children was only surpassed by the love she had for her grandkids: Paige, Curtis, Tate, Beckham, Drexel, Royal, Maika, Aliya, Emma, Amara, Rhett, Maverik, and Stockton. She was their biggest fan, spending hours at choir concerts, school plays, voice recitals, baseball games, basketball games, soccer games, and football games. Her only regret was that she couldn't be in two places at once when there were conflicting schedules. She spent hours playing play-doh, card games, board games- anything that the grandkids wanted to do, she would do it. Every treat they could ever want could be found in her cupboards and all their favorite drinks in the fridge. They were spoiled by her!

We were not ready to let her go yet, but we know she had a joyful reunion with so many family and friends who have gone on before her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Don and LuRae Pearson; and two sisters-in-law, Shauna Pearson Mendenhall and Brenda Bailey. Our family offers a special thanks to the incredible staff of the IMC Shock-Trauma ICU floor who worked so hard to keep her with us. We will always be grateful for their expertise and compassion.

A viewing will be held Sunday, August 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walden Hills Ward, 5555 South 700 West, Murray. Services will be held at the same location on Monday, August 3, with a viewing at 10:00-10:45 am and the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow after the services at Murray City Cemetery.

Another West High senior breakfast in the books. Wow, there are so many students receiving special honors and scholarships. We are happy to give out 15 scholarships from the Alumni Association. Special thanks to all those board members that were present and a big thank you to Marv Hendrickson, who financed three of those scholarships to Salt Lake Community College.

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Cagle, who passed away the 21st of May, surrounded by the love of his family.

George will be remembered for his playful spirit, quick humor, and the way he could make the people around him smile even in the hardest moments. He never lost his ability to joke around, and even in his final awake moments, he was still grinning, teasing, and being the lovable goof his family knew so well.

He had a deep love for his family and especially cherished being a grandfather. His grandchildren brought him endless pride and happiness, and some of his favorite moments in life were simply spent laughing with them, checking in on them, and making sure they knew they were loved.

He is now joyfully reunited with his beloved wife Christine, his mother Irene, his father David, and his two brothers, Jay and Paul.

He is lovingly survived by his brother David; his four daughters, Jessica, Janie, Lindsay, and Cynthia; his ten grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his love, laughter, and memory with them always.

George will be deeply missed for his jokes, his warmth, his stubborn little reminders about taking care of things (our cars), and the comfort of knowing he was always there.

Though our hearts are broken in his absence, the laughter and love he gave so freely will continue to live on through the family he cherished so deeply.

David Lynn Peck
September 25, 1949 — April 22, 2026

David Lynn Peck, age 76, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dave was a lifelong resident of the community he loved. His life was marked by courage, service, devotion to family, and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery and sacrifice were recognized with the Purple Heart, a reflection of both his courage and his willingness to put others before himself. After returning home, he built a steady and honorable career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked diligently until his retirement.

Family was at the center of Dave’s life. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 52 years, Shauna (Callister); his children, Saisha Standing (Justin) and Tyler Peck (Yudi); and his treasured grandchildren, David and Thomas Peck, and Shyanne Standing. He loved deeply and took extraordinary pride in his family, always finding joy in time spent together, whether traveling, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Dave had a passion for staying active and living life to the fullest. He loved riding motorcycles and embraced the freedom of the open road. He enjoyed traveling, especially when it meant creating memories with those he loved most. A natural athlete, he participated in and loved many sports throughout his life, including baseball, softball, swimming, diving, golf, and tennis. He also had a deep love for music, especially the storytelling of John Prine and the free-spirited sound of the Grateful Dead, which reflected his own independent and joyful nature.

He also had a gift for mentoring and teaching others, not always in the best activities, but always with the best intentions. Dave devoted time to coaching Little League baseball and Jr. Jazz basketball, and girls' softball, where he not only taught skills but also instilled confidence, sportsmanship, and a love of the game. His influence extended far beyond the field and court, shaping the lives of many young people in meaningful ways.

Those who knew Dave will remember him for his incredible sense of humor and his larger-than-life presence. He was truly the life of the party—never dull, always engaging, and able to bring laughter to any room. His quick wit saved him from trouble on many occasions. He lived as a nonconformist, unafraid to be himself and to walk his own path. At the same time, he was patient and forgiving, offering mercy and understanding to others. His fearless spirit and generous heart made him both memorable and deeply loved.

In his later years, Dave faced Parkinson’s disease (caused by his service in Vietnam) with resilience and determination. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and caregivers whose compassion, skill, and dedication provided comfort, dignity, and support throughout his journey.

Dave’s legacy is one of strength, resilience, love, and joy. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who will miss his laughter, and a community that was better because he was part of it.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1148 West 500 North, Salt Lake City, Utah. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Dave will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless memories he created and the lives he touched.
