Sudanese Youth in Action -SYA

Sudanese Youth in Action -SYA SYA is an after school program that meets 4:30-7:30pm at the INSCC building at the University of Utah. Sudanese Youth in Action -SYA.

For an hour and a half of each sessions , student tutors from the University of Utah will work with SYA students to help them with assignments. Once a week there will be a hands-on science workshops led by the Univ. of Utah faculty and Science fair mentoring by the Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair student advisory committee. The remainder of each session will include; workshops on col

lege and career readiness, Healthy Relationships, Civic Engagement, Self-Concept and Emotional Intelligence, and Violence and Gang Prevention. Utah Dispute-Resolution and planned-Parenthood will facilitate these workshops. Daily attendance for SYA is projected to be about 25 students. In addition to weekly meetings, there will be four hours of outdoor recreational activities once a month.
