🚨Publication Alert🚨 Our Fellow Kylie Howe was recently published in the about her experience with dwindling foreign language classes. Kylie teaches ASL and argues that high graduation rates alone aren't enough to prepare our students for the modern world. Languages are still so important!

We are entering into Year 2 of the current cohort and we'd like to celebrate with some reintroductions to our awesome Fellows.

Sydney teaches K-3 Special Education at West Elementary in Tooele County School District. Her leadership highlights include serving on her school’s guiding coalition, taking an active leadership role within the Tooele Education Association, and championing the needs of both exceptional students and fellow educators. She is passionate about creating equitable, high-quality learning environments where students of all abilities can succeed in their own unique ways.

Sydney brings such a calm presence and reflective nature to our group and always gives such great insights!

We are entering into Year 2 of the current cohort and we'd like to celebrate with some reintroductions to our awesome Fellows.

Bob serves as an Instructional Coach at Mount Jordan Middle School in Canyons School District, following a decade of teaching middle school science. His leadership achievements include being named the 2018 USTA 8th Grade Science Teacher of the Year, and the 2024 University of Utah Outstanding K-12 Teacher of the Year. He is passionate about hands-on STEM education and helping both students and teachers realize their full potential.

Bob's deep commitment to student success and educator support brings vital perspective and strength to our cohort.

We are entering into Year 2 of the current cohort and we'd like to celebrate with some reintroductions to our awesome Fellows.

Rachel teaches concurrent enrollment English, Aspiring Educators concurrent enrollment, as well as a mentor teacher at Crimson Cliffs High School in Washington County School District. Her leadership includes launching the CTE Teaching as a Profession pathway at her school, instructing adjunct courses for UVU, and contributing as a published writer and administrative endorsement holder. She is passionate about teacher mentorship, believing every educator deserves supportive coaching to maximize student learning.

Rachel has contributed so much to our group, and to the wider conversation around education with many sessions at conferences and published writing pieces. Grateful to have her as part of our group!

Jamie Porter teaches 10th grade language arts and 11th grade Honors language arts at Bear River High School in Box Elder School District. Her leadership experience includes advising the Student Council, serving as Language Arts Department Chair and Building Level Technician, mentoring peers, and being named the 2024 Early Career English Teacher of the Year by Utah Council of Teachers of English (UCTE). She is passionate about using education as a supportive space for student mental health and helping youth realize their full potential.

Jamie's unwavering passion and unique insights bring incredible energy and value to our group of teacher fellows.

Joshua teaches Mathematics and World Geography at Independence High School in Provo City School District, specializing in alternative education environments. He is passionate about continuous learning, educational policy, and STEM innovation. Some of his leadership highlights include serving on the board of the Provo Education Association, participating in the inaugural STEM Education Innovators cohort, and pursuing his doctorate in K-12 Educational Policy and Leadership.

We love having Josh as part of our cohort. He does a great job of making us think and finding possible solutions!

Amy teaches English Language Arts and Journalism at George Washington High School in Ogden City School District. Amy was named George Washington’s Telitha Lindquist Greiner Excellence in Teaching Award winner in 2023, as well as the Secondary Teacher of the Year for Commerce ISD (Texas) in 2019. She is passionate about alternative education and ensuring every student receives tailored support to build a fulfilling adulthood.

Amy brings such a unique perspective to our discussions and does a great job of advocating for her students in so many ways.

Shannon Neeley is a Special Educator at Bear River Middle School in the Box Elder School District, where she teaches middle school SpEd Math. With now almost 5 years of teaching experience, Shannon is dedicated to supporting diverse learners and fostering a positive classroom environment. She was originally inspired to join the Fellows in part by attending the Show Up for Teachers Conference. Now, Shannon leads sessions at conference across the state like URSA and UCET as part of her work with the Fellows.

We adore having Shannon as part of our cohort and to learn from her knowledge & experience!

Carly teaches AP Psychology and English Language Development at Viewmont High School in Davis School District. She is deeply passionate about teacher leadership, supporting multilingual learners, promoting educator wellness, and celebrating teachers who . Her notable leadership achievements include being named the 2024 Utah Teacher of the Year, leading professional development sessions throughout the state, and mentoring other teacher leaders on their leadership journey.

Carly is an amazing educator and we are so lucky to have her as part of our group! She makes everyone feel seen and welcome.
