Utah SHRM also stopped by Senator John Curtis & Chief of Staff Cory 🏛️

Remember, the decisions made in Washington don't stay in Washington. Caregiver burnout, workforce skills gaps, and AI disruption are reshaping workplaces across the country and Utah is no exception. Our employers feel it. Our employees live it.

We went to make sure Utah's voice was heard in that conversation. We can assure you that real advocacy means that Utah SHRM stands up for all employers and employees who make our state's workforce strong.

Utah SHRM took a visit to Washington...

We didn't just talk about Utah's workforce, but we talked to the people who can do something about it. 🤝🏛️

Utah SHRM sat down with:
📍Senator John Curtis & Chief of Staff Cory
📍Senator Mike Lee's Legislative Team
📍Representative Celeste Malloy's Office
📍Representative Burgess Owens' Office

Our commitment is simple: if it impacts Utah's employees and employers, Utah SHRM will be there to advocate for them.

Can we all commit to keep having conversations when we cross paths with our elected officials? 👇

We in HR talk a lot about culture.

But culture doesn't start at onboarding. It starts with the very first conversation a candidate has with your organization.

Recruiters are the first human face of your culture — before the offer letter, before Day 1, before any of us get involved.

That conversation belongs to a recruiter.

Inside HR, it's easy for recruiting to become transactional. A pipeline to manage. A req to close.

But the best recruiters aren't filling jobs. They're shaping who your organization becomes.

As Utah HR professionals, we have the ability — and the responsibility — to recognize that. Starting with the recruiters in our own ranks.

How does your organization recognize the impact recruiters have on culture — not just headcount? Share below. ⬇

Bridging the gap between military service and the private sector remains a top priority for leadership teams across the country.

A recent SHRM article explores the "commitment paradox"—the reality that while many companies have robust veteran hiring initiatives, long-term retention remains a significant challenge. As Utah organizations look toward the current landscape, there is a growing need to evaluate how to support service members beyond the initial offer letter.

When it comes to veteran hiring, what is the one "soft skill" you’ve seen translate most effectively from military service to your organization’s culture?

Insights into how local organizations are successfully tapping into and supporting this talent pool are invaluable as we move forward.

Not every great HR topic is flashy.

Some are practical. Some are complex. Some even sound a little “boring.” But the right topic, delivered well, can completely change how someone works, leads, or solves problems.

That’s what we’re looking for at the 2026 Utah SHRM Work Elevated Conference, presented by BambooHR.

If you have expertise that can help Utah’s HR professionals think differently, lead better, or navigate change with confidence, we want to hear from you.
