Hi everyone, I hope the organization is well. You should probably remove me as an administrator of this page. I made a personal post that was accidentally (by me) posted to the UAGC account. There was a kind person who helped me correct that.

Rule of thumb, old people like me should probably have their devices monitored 😂

Seriously, you should remove me as an administrator. Thank you to all people who care about education and about providing access to learning for vulnerable students. Bless you all.

Significant legislation impacting Gifted and Talented students is being debated in a Senate committee on Tuesday. We need your help. Please contact Senator Orrin Hatch, a committee member, and encourage he support the additions for gifted and talented students. A sample post is provided. Please copy and paste this as a message to the Senator. It would be even more effective to modify the post to include your personal views and information. To contact Senator Hatch, please use the following link: http://www.hatch.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/email-orrin

Sample Message to Senator Hatch (please personalize):

"The HELP Committee is considering the reauthorization of ESEA beginning next Tuesday morning April 14. The legislation overhauls what is currently known as No Child Left Behind. We are very pleased that the bipartisan draft bill includes several additions related to gifted and talented students, including disaggregating student data at each achievement level on the state report cards and requiring that states describe how they plan to improve teachers’ skills in identifying the specific learning needs of gifted and talented students in their plans for using Title II professional development funds.

However, we need your assistance to gain support for an amendment to retain a research program focused on underrepresented gifted students because the Javits program is not part of the committee draft bill.

Please support the ESEA additions related to gifted and talented students and support to retain a research program focused on underrepresented gifted students."
