From May 13-15 Alliance House hosted the Annual Clubhouse Utah Conference located at the beautiful community center at the Other Side Academy. We had over 150 individuals in attendance. Our keynote speakers were impressive and shared many tools on how to broaden partnerships and advocacy. Our Clubhouse's united to strengthen the Clubhouse Model throughout the state, fostering collaboration among members and staff.

This gathering focused on sharing best practices for mental health recovery, highlighting key principles like the "Work-Ordered Day," employment initiatives, and cultivating meaningful, supportive relationships.

We are so proud to announce that one of our Alliance House members, Damon Talbot, has been appointed to the Community Strategic Team for the National Alliance to End Homelessness. He is currently in Washington DC working with a team to develop, design, disseminate, and deploy plans that foster equitable working relationships to end homelessness in America. He was one of nine individuals chosen out of hundreds of applicants across the country. We are confident that they have the right man for the job. Way to go Damon!

Alliance House is excited to celebrate Chuck as he begins a new Transitional Employment position as a Receptionist with Valley Behavioral Health.

Chuck comes to this opportunity with a strong work history, having worked many physical jobs in the past. Over time, he discovered he was interested in pursuing office work and recognized how the skills he developed in Alliance House’s Business Unit could help him succeed in a professional office setting.

After being out of work for four years, Chuck admitted that he “floundered a bit” at times. Even so, he says the encouragement and belief from the Clubhouse community helped him continue moving forward. Staff and members consistently supported him throughout his employment journey, helping him rebuild confidence and prepare for this next step.

Chuck shares: “I’d like to thank the staff and members at Alliance House for being there for me and supporting me and keeping my spirits up the entire time.”

Chuck is especially looking forward to having a routine again and hopes this position will open the door to even more opportunities in the future. We can’t wait to see Chuck thrive in his new role.

We are grateful that Stephen, Mollie and Colin have been able to gain more knowledge at Colleague training at Alliance House in Salt Lake City, Utah (https://www.alliancehouse.org/blank-2)! They joined three other Clubhouses in the nation and had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful and immersive experience. We are excited to have our colleagues at Tempo on Monday and glean all the helpful skills they learned from their experience! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14cGxCQGmn7/.

Colleague training in Clubhouse models is an immersive, two-to-three-week program designed for staff and members to learn the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation, including the work-ordered day, employment, and housing support. Coordinated by Clubhouse International at specialized training bases, this training helps participants launch or strengthen local Clubhouse communities. In a recent interview on KRCL 90.9 FM, Alliance House’s Paige and Erin shared the heart behind their work and the impact of the clubhouse model in Utah. They highlight how Alliance House creates a community-driven space where people living with mental health challenges are recognized for their strengths, not their diagnoses. Through education, employment, and supportive relationships, members build confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging, making Alliance House more than a program, but a place to connect and rebuild.

We’re happy to spotlight one of our Clubhouse members, Richard, on his new role as a shuttle driver with Advantage Services. After a workplace injury and being told he might never work again, Richard went through a difficult period that significantly impacted his mental health. Through his engagement in the Work-Ordered Day, he was able to rebuild confidence and rediscover his ability to contribute in meaningful ways.

This exciting milestone reflects Richard’s hard work, resilience, and dedication. He’s especially looking forward to connecting with members of his community and making a positive difference in people’s day-to-day lives. Richard is deeply passionate about advocating for individuals experiencing homelessness and those living with mental illness, and he brings that compassion and purpose into everything he does. We’re excited to congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to all he will accomplish in his new role.
