It’s official: Utah Clean Energy’s Climate Innovation Center has earned both Zero Energy Certification™ and Zero Carbon Certification™ from the International Living Future Institute. These designations are more than labels. They are based on 12 months of actual building performance data, rigorous analysis, and independent verification, confirming that the Climate Innovation Center is operating as one of the nation’s high-performance, all-electric, zero-emission buildings, with a tiny embodied carbon footprint.

Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, the Climate Innovation Center shows what homes and buildings can become: comfortable, resilient, efficient spaces that run on clean energy and produce zero pollution.

Did you know your appliances could be secretly using power even when they’re turned off?

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, "phantom loads", the power devices draw even when turned off, account for 5% to 10% of total residential energy use. That's like paying for an extra full month of electricity every year!

The easiest fix? Smart power strips. Plug in your setup and flip the switch when you're done. A single switch cuts off electricity to multiple devices at once, completely severing their connection to the grid so they can't waste standby power.

Flip the switch when you leave the room and keep your money where it belongs!

Want an easy swap that saves water and cuts down your power bill?

For this week's Tuesday Tip we are taking a look at high-efficiency showerheads. Swapping out standard showerheads for a WaterSense labeled model is one of the quickest ways to make a big impact at home.

Here’s why it’s a total game-changer:

2,700 gallons of water saved per year for the average family.

330+ kWh of electricity saved annually. That’s enough energy to power a home for 11 full days!

Standard heads pump out 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm), but WaterSense models use 2.0 gpm or less without sacrificing water pressure or spray force.

Check with your local utility provider before buying, many offer rebates, vouchers, or even free efficiency kits!
