United Jewish Federation of Utah For more than 75 years, United Jewish Federation of Utah has served as our community's coordinating body for fundraising, planning, and communal services.

Federation helps sustain and improve the lives of people in Utah, Israel, and around the world. Through a network of partnering organizations, Federation builds and strengthens Jewish community; in Utah to our homeland, from the homebound to the homeless, from elderly Jews in Russia to North American teens discovering their birthright in Israel. Federation is the heart and soul of North American Jewry's philanthropic and humanitarian activities. It embodies a 3,500-year-old tradition of caring that goes back to the giving of the Torah and sustains us in the bold pursuit of Jewish community, Jewish values and Jewish peoplehood. Federation is the people who care enough to want to perfect an imperfect world. Federation is the passion of commitment, where tzedakah and a sense of social justice can make a difference in someone's life.

Shabbat Shalom!
On Wednesday, the United Jewish Federation of Utah gathered for an intimate and moving commemoration of October 7 under the banner of “We Will Dance Again.”
Maya Skurnik led a powerful conversation with Nova survivor Elizabeth Anukwu, who shared her harrowing experience of that day.
“Save yourself,” an officer told her as the attack unfolded.
“It happened so quickly,” Anukwu recalled. “Terrorists fired an RPG at us. I woke up in a different place. I really thought I was dead.”
The evening was a palpable reminder of the importance of remembrance, the strength of community, and the resilience of the Jewish people. Even in the face of unimaginable tragedy, we continue to remember, to find hope, and to embrace life.
Hillel for Utah led joyful Israeli dances with participants to end the evening.

Shabbat Shalom!
This week, the sukkah at the JCC was filled with children enjoying the beautiful weather and celebrating Sukkot. Our Federation’s Associate Director, Liz Paige, met with kids from the JCC’s afterschool program, Club J, to teach them a little bit about the holiday and its traditions.
