Utah Latinx Youth Symposium

Utah Latinx Youth Symposium Utah Latinx Youth Symposium is dedicated to the development and transition of our high school students' academic and professional opportunities.

Through the annual event, a space will be created to offer support in the development and transition of our high school student's academic and professional opportunities. It is our personal belief that during a time in which negative rhetoric surrounds many of our students, the importance of mentorship is of great need and benefit. Many of us have been privileged to benefit from the support of my

parents, mentors, and community. I have also had the honor to share some of those benefits with many students in my day-to-day work. We hope that through this organization, we can better maximize our influence with students from all over the state of Utah. This project is in its first steps, and we invite my friends and family to take part in this journey toward our first annual event taking place in the Summer of 2018. ***Big thank you and GRACIAS for the love, support, and inspiration of our Idaho Hispanic Youth Symposium familia. The amazing programming they have been hosting for many years inspired me to spread their message of cultivation, education, and activation of our youth. Please contact us at [email protected]. You can also connect with us on Instagram and Twitter using the handle . Stay tuned for the details about our upcoming event, .

“like many Latinx students, I am the child of immigrants. Our parents were the original dreamers. Even if my parents couldn’t always help me in school, I was lucky to have parents that always believed in me. It help me eventually grow to understand and believe in myself, especially on days when it felt like nobody else did. Being first-generation means there’s so much you don’t know, but are expected to learn even when you don’t always have someone to teach you. My biggest hope is to be able to help students the way others have helped me. That’s what it’s all about.“ - Isael Torres @ Salt Lake City, Utah
