The academy promises to transform individuals experiencing addiction, criminality and homelessness into sober and productive citizens as they learn accountability from peers. There are, however, worries that their approach does more harm than good.

On Thursday, May 21, President Trump's homeless policy guru, Robert Marbut, will be giving a speech at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City about things like involuntary detention of homeless people and cuts to housing programs that the Trump Administration has proposed. Marbut has a long history of supporting controversial ideas like criminalizing feeding homeless people anywhere but a shelter.
