Today on , Reel Advocacy stands with refugees - today and every day. Refugees around the world are being hit disproportionately hard with Covid19, and we are doing everything we can to mitigate those effects while preparing to head back out to the Middle East as soon as it's clear to travel. Their voices must be heard. Their lives must be accounted. Their rights must be respected. Their dignity must be preserved.

As we approach World Refugee Day on June 20th, Reel Advocacy is currently on site in Turkey & Syria wrapping our documentary and delivering aid in the form of water, food, medical supplies, and more. We are so proud to be part of this work and would not be able to do this without you. Thank you for your support and your contributions - it means everything to those on the receiving end. Please join us this week in honoring the struggles & triumphs of refugees by sharing this video and donating if you can - even five dollars makes an impact. paypal.me/reeladvocacy to donate.

Over the past five years, we have been privileged to work with Nepal SEEDS as they build up schools across rural Nepal and promote education for girls - the number one preventative measure against child marriage and the sixth most impactful measure we can take against climate change. We have the privilege of seeing these schools in action and invite you to join us in supporting Nepal SEEDS on their mission to educate girls: paypal.com/reeladvocacy.

I’ve tried to start writing this post several times and I don’t have the words. Most (but hopefully ALL) of you don’t need me to tell you how absolutely horrific the massacre in Christchurch is. How the toxic rhetoric from some of our own so-called leaders has helped to make such a tragedy possible. How referring to immigrants and refugees as “invaders” is dead wrong. How fearing Islam and its followers, and even describing them as “hateful”, is ignorant at best.

“Thoughts and prayers” aren’t nearly enough and provide no tangible results. If they did, it would be clear & we wouldn’t need to take any additional action. These massacres wouldn’t keep happening. But action, education/awareness, understanding, and change are what’s needed most. Failing that, even a little kindness is so much more useful than virtue-signaling “thoughts and prayers” on Facebook while continuing to do nothing. We should do more. We CAN do more. The privilege of providing help in this regard, in any way possible, is not one we take lightly.

While we are far away from New Zealand, we are currently on-location in Turkey continuing our work with refugees, a vast majority of which are Muslim. Many are understandably confused, upset, and frightened. But they are ever resilient, and continue to be impossibly kind. We continue to reinforce the fact that white supremacy is in the minority, and most Americans would gladly accept refugees, immigrants, Muslims into our communities. They are already a part of your community, especially if you consider yourself to be a global citizen - and I hope that you do.

Some of you have contacted me expressing a desire to show support to the Muslim community at this time. I would be more than happy to continue to help make this happen. Donations made to PayPal.me/reeladvocacy will go directly to helping refugees with a broad spectrum of needs: healthcare, education, food, etc. I’ve personally just made a donation of $49 dollars - one dollar for every person murdered at the mosques. White supremacy may be a small minority, but it is certainly a deadly one. Let’s overpower the hateful rhetoric & attitudes that had a hand in this tragedy, and show OUR community that only love will conquer hate.

Please donate if you can, and/or share. Thanks a million for your continued support.

Currently on location in Turkey, distributing aid to Syrian refugees in Hatay while gathering more footage for "The Children," our short documentary on Syrian refugee kids. This is a sequence of children answering the question, "what would you like people in America to know?"

Executive Director Amy Bronson will be here another few days, it is still not too late to donate. All aid goes directly to refugees in the form of diapers, medical supplies, school supplies, warm clothing, and other essential items.

Please consider joining our efforts to assist Syrian refugee children. They deserve so much more than they have received from the world. Over half of the 4.8 million refugees fleeing Syria are children, and education is everything for a child refugee.

Currently on location in Nepal before heading back to the Middle East. This is a temporary school in Bhorle, Nepal (Rasuwa district) - a new, earthquake resistant school is being constructed nearby. Nepal SEEDS is handling the construction while also providing free school lunches for the students. $300 provides an entire year's worth of school supplies for a class. Link to donate in bio.

The situation grows more odious every day with more reports of civilian executions, including women and children. Learn more about the children caught up in this situation, and how you can make a direct impact, here: https://www.gofundme.com/2pusts2k

As fighting in eastern Aleppo appeared to have stopped, the United Nations reported that pro-government forces in the Syrian city had killed scores, some shot in the street as they tried to flee.
