In Utah, vulnerable food-insecure households have lost SNAP. The largest declines have been in households with children under the age of 17, seniors over the age of 60, and people with disabilities. Combined, more than 16,000 Utahns have lost access to SNAP.

The rules for markets, CSAs, and other small producers are outdated and cumbersome. With the focus on MAHA, the administration should remove these hurdles that support small producers.

USDA moves leave customers who use SNAP with less access to food, and mean that stores can't buy as much product from the local farmers who supply them.

The University of California in Los Angeles, PHFE WIC and the County of Los Angeles conducted a study that demonstrates how WIC participation positively impacts health outcomes and costs-savings.

Key findings include:

✨Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is cost-saving.
✨Further savings could be achieved if all eligible women were enrolled in WIC.
$1 invested in WIC saves about $2.48 in medical, educational, and productivity costs.
✨WIC is cost-effective in preventing preterm births relative to having no WIC.
Reductions in prenatal participation could lead to significant increases in costs.
