A message from Rinpoche:

Emaho!

During this season, when it is said that Santa Claus brings an abundance of gifts, remember that for us, Guru Rinpoche is our Santa Claus - bestowing the true gifts of loving-kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity.

If you have lights in your home, a tree, a wreath or candles, see them as nothing other than expressions of your own mind.

The tree becomes a torma.

The lights and gifts become offerings to the Buddhas.

Each light radiates the enlightened qualities of all Buddhas - past, present, and future - dispelling negativity and opening a doorway to happiness in the year to come.

All phenomena are intrinsically empty, yet from this emptiness arise the wondrous qualities of enlightenment.

By recognizing these qualities as innate within ourselves and all sentient beings, true transformation occurs.

Let go of what has passed. Open your heart to what is about to come.

May this truly be a time of giving - bringing forth happiness for others. Laugh, smile and allow every day to carry the spirit of Christmas.

A call for Volunteers nearby downtown SLC next Saturday October 18th at 10am.

This is a great way for you to accumulate merit by serving the Dharma in a hands-on way. It is also a lovely opportunity to feel more connected with your fellow practitioners by working side by side.

Not to mention - all of the treasures that you may get to discover inside of our unit from Dharma items and texts - to household items like baskets, vacuums and shovels.

We will have a big U-Haul to load up a lot of old items that simply need to be delivered to the landfill as well.

We’re excited to work shoulder to shoulder with you in the spirit of joy and service - and in the process, help to circulate these items back into our community where they belong.

We are so profoundly grateful for your dedicated practice over the weekend at our annual Prayers for Compassion celebration. 📿

Our sangha accumulated over 567,500 prayers to benefit all sentient beings - we will continue with this accumulation every Sunday at Chenrezig practice with Jinpa.

We also celebrated a new Lama here at Urgyen Samten Ling - Master Xi is now Lama Ngawang as we celebrate the Conference and Investiture of his new title!

Then, on Saturday will have two sessions open to the public at the Utah Tibet Association.

On Sunday, we will wrap up the weekend with our regular Chenrezig practice online and a closing session afterwards.
