SE Group Evaluation Complete
The outdoor recreation planning specialists SE Group and their subcontractors, Kay-Linn Enterprises and Applied Trails Research, has completed their “Foothills Trail System Evaluation and Recommendations.” Salt Lake City Public Lands hired these consultants to evaluate the 2020 Trails System Plan and implementation of Phase 1, which included the construction of trails in City Creek Canyon and above the Avenues. SE Group’s final report summarizes their evaluations of the 2020 Trail Plan goals, implementation, and outcomes. This is followed by important recommendations for how Public Lands can best move forward with their Foothills project. We applaud the City for taking this important step.
Save Our Foothills is ready to monitor how the SE Group recommendations are applied moving forward, and assist in the development of a stewardship plan that promotes environmental conservation and includes outdoor recreation etiquette education in the management of these natural lands. The recommendations in this report may bring the City closer to balancing responsible recreation with environmental protection.
