Clergy have a uniquely revered place in the hearts of their congregations. This give them a unique power to help support the healing process of the survivors who are members of their faith. Jeff Benedict is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and knows Rob Porter personally. In this powerful opinion piece he shares his experiences advising the leadership of the LDS faith as an experienced victim advocate and prosecutor.

His take away message for clergy is simple, "the next time a woman in an abusive relationship seeks your help. Just ask yourself a question: what would I do if it were my daughter? "

The Utah Coalition Against S*xual Assault (UCASA) has launched a new mobile application for survivors of sexual assault. We're proud to work alongside this organization in anti-violence efforts.

We are beyond excited to announce the launch of our new You Are A Survivor mobile application for sexual assault survivors and their loved ones.

The new mobile application is designed to support sexual assault survivors and their families. After several months of testing and development, this all-mobile experience puts essential resources and support in the hands of sexual assault survivors and their families. It is available free of charge on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.

The You Are A Survivor mobile application includes a variety of information, resources, and links to service providers.

The app is available now on our website at UCASA.org/app.

The intersection of masculinity and the need for nurturance define our efforts to do more than combat violence. If we are to succeed in efforts to protect our planet and environment, we must change our perspective on actions such as recycling.

This insightful article discusses interesting new research about men's perceptions of actions that benefit the environment. It has important implications not only for our efforts but for the efforts of other organizations working across the globe.

As the Standard-Examiner reports:

"Brough’s research notes that men tend to be more preoccupied with asserting their male identity because they face bigger consequences. Our society tends to be tougher on men who don’t act manly."

To help the planet, we need to help men feel macho.

Nothing can replace a good role model. Men who act as mentors and role models are critical to our efforts to end violence. The state of Utah is moving toward embracing this value with this bill sponsored by Rep. Mike Winder, District 30.

We are proud to support Representative Mike Winder in this effort. We appreciate his efforts to elevate discussions about good fatherhood beyond child support alone. Male role models matter and this importance legislation is a great step in the right direction.

Earlier this week Jeff Combe from our board testified in support of the important legislation.

The culture of male-dominated sports is changing. The days of "accommodation for perpetrators at USA Gymnastics, Penn State, Florida State, Baylor and Michigan State" are ending because social consciousness has shifted.

Men can make these spaces safer for everyone. Together we can change our communities to support the people in our lives who are harmed by violence.

Tonight we stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and harassment. For every high profile supporter like The Rock and others, there are thousands of men throughout Utah who are taking a stand to support the survivors in our lives.

We are working to ensure that every community is safe.

We believe in a community where:
- Where violence and harassment are not tolerated.
- Where masculinity is never used to justify violence.
- Men are given the tools and resources they need to advocate for survivors and prevent harm.

We pledge, to never be silent, to never stop advocating, and to always work for a better community.
