That’s what one student shared after participating in Reality Check and it’s exactly why this program matters.

Receiving an abnormal prenatal diagnosis can be life changing and often generates fear, grief, and uncertainty about the future. At Charis, we believe that an abnormal prenatal diagnosis does not negate the value of the life of the baby but instead highlights the importance of adequate counsel and support for the whole family during this time. All babies are created in the image of God and deserve care, dignity, compassion, and the opportunity for life.

There is rich support available for families who face abnormal diagnoses including support groups, peer mentors, adoption options, perinatal hospice and community resources. Thoughtful education regarding these resources and how to access them is vital in caring for both the parents and the babies affected.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the recently publicly acknowledged termination of a Trisomy 21 baby boy and hope that his parents received such care, support, and counsel prior to making their decision.

We are committed to providing care anchored in the knowledge that every life is truly a gift from God while simultaneously seeking to love and care for families who face such challenging and unexpected situations.

Last week, our staff at Charis Pregnancy Clinic was honored to welcome U.S. Congressman Dr. Mike Kennedy for a tour of our clinic and an opportunity to share the life-affirming care and support we provide every day to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies!

As we walked through our clinic, we shared how compassionate medical care, practical resources, education, and ongoing support help families find hope in moments of uncertainty. Every appointment, every conversation, and every life touched is possible because of a community that chooses to stand for both truth and compassion.

At Charis, we believe every life has inherent value and dignity. We are grateful for leaders who take time to learn about the challenges families face and the resources available to help them choose life.

This visit was also a reminder that the work of supporting women, babies, and families belongs to all of us.

Never underestimate the power of one yes. 💙

One volunteer can remind a woman she’s not alone.
One mentor can speak hope into someone’s future.
One prayer can change the course of a life.
One donor can help provide care, support, and resources for a family in need.

So often, we wonder if our part is big enough to matter. But throughout Scripture, we see God use ordinary people willing to simply say “yes.”

Yes to showing up.
Yes to serving.
Yes to giving.
Yes to loving others well.
