FJC is not a politically conservative organization. Our work is intersectional, justice-centered, and willing to challenge the systems that allow hunger and inequality to persist. That approach can make some large funders hesitant—but it is also what makes our work necessary.
We are a small—and growing—community organization. We run on a very small budget and do not receive funding from most of Utah’s family foundations. Much of our work is sustained by everyday people who believe our neighbors deserve access to nourishing food, regardless of their age, disability, housing status, or family composition.
We refuse to treat hunger as an isolated issue or charity alone as the solution. We recognize its connections to poverty, disability, housing, race, health, immigration, environmental justice, and public policy.
