Who says cattle can’t have a little tech in their lives?

Cattle GPS collars are like a built-in map for the herd—helping ranchers keep track of where their animals are, where they’ve been, and how they’re using the land. These collars use satellite technology to send location data right to a phone or computer, making it easier to find strays, monitor grazing patterns, and keep an eye on herd health.

It’s a modern tool with a practical purpose—saving time, reducing stress, and helping ranchers make smarter decisions out on the range.

This year we're celebrating two important milestones for the Leadore Land Partners Conservation Easement!

11 years ago, the Leadore Land Partners Conservation Easement was officially completed, permanently protecting this important working landscape and helping conserve the agricultural heritage, open spaces, and wildlife habitat that make our region so special.

9 years ago, Life on the Range debuted this informational video, sharing the story of the conservation easement and highlighting the importance of protecting working lands for future generations.

We are incredibly proud to have been part of this project and of the lasting impact it continues to have today. The Leadore Land Partners Conservation Easement stands as a powerful example of what can be accomplished when landowners, conservation partners, and community members work together toward a shared vision.

As we look back on the past 11 years, we celebrate the foresight and commitment that made this conservation success possible and remain grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life.

Take a few minutes to watch this video from Life on the Range and join us in celebrating 11 years of conservation and stewardship in the Lemhi Valley!

A cattle brand is more than a mark—it’s a clear way to identify who an animal belongs to.

Each brand is registered to a specific owner, and when you know how to read it, you can quickly connect an animal to the right ranch or family. The way a brand is placed, the symbols used, and how it’s read all matter in making an accurate identification.

Whether you’re a rancher, landowner, or simply spending time in cattle country, understanding brands helps ensure livestock are recognized, returned if lost, and accounted for properly.

Out here, reading a brand means knowing exactly whose cattle you’re looking at—and helping keep things where they belong.
