Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Overdose affects families in every kind of community, including our own. Today, we remember the lives lost, the families who miss them, and those who are still fighting their way through addiction.

As law enforcement officers, we see firsthand the impact drugs can have on individuals and families. We also know that behind every call is a person and people who care about them.

Today is about remembering those we've lost, supporting those who are struggling, and continuing to work toward a safer, healthier community.

Back-to-school is almost here!

As our Black Diamonds head back to class, we all have a part to play in keeping them safe.

🚌 Slow down in school zones.
🚸 Watch for children crossing the street- they can be unpredictable.
🛑 Never pass a stopped school bus when its stop arm is extended.
📱 Put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.

Parents, this is also a great time to remind your kids to use crosswalks, stay alert when walking, and look both ways before crossing the street.

Let's all work together to help every student, teacher, and school staff member have a safe start to the new school year!

This week is Stop on Red Week! Running late, trying to beat traffic, or just wanna get where you're going- it's never worth risking an intersection.

A few reminders:
🛑 Come to a complete stop at red lights.
👀 Look both ways before moving when the light turns green.
📱 Keep your focus on the road, not your phone.

July is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month.

Here's a question...when was the last time you checked to make sure your vehicle was actually locked?

You'd be surprised how many vehicle thefts and break-ins happen because the doors were left unlocked or valuables were sitting out in plain sight.

A few quick reminders:
🔑 Lock your doors, even if you're only running inside for a minute.
💼 Keep purses, wallets, fi****ms, and other valuables out of sight.
🔑 Don't leave your keys or key fob in your vehicle.
💡 If you can, park in a well-lit area at night.

Most thieves are looking for an easy opportunity, so don't give them one.

Take an extra 10 seconds before you walk away from your vehicle. It's a simple habit that can save you a lot of time and frustration later.

☀️ **The Oklahoma heat is no joke.**

Temperatures are climbing, so here are a few simple ways to stay safe this summer:

💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
🧢 If you're working or spending time outside, take breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle- not even for a minute. We don't want to have to break your window- but we will.
👵 Check on older family members and neighbors, especially during long stretches of hot weather.
🌡️ Know the signs of heat exhaustion, like dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating, or confusion. If someone is struggling, get them to a cool place and seek medical help if needed.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another. Have a safe summer! 💙

Behind every badge is a family.

This July, we're proud to recognize Law Enforcement Child Month, an official proclamation from the Fraternal Order of Police, and a time to honor the children who grow up alongside the unique challenges and sacrifices that come with having a parent in law enforcement.

They know what it's like to miss holidays, adjust to late-night calls, and worry when a shift runs longer than expected. They also learn resilience, service, and the importance of helping others at a young age.

The National Fraternal Order of Police has officially recognized July as Law Enforcement Child Month, and we join them in celebrating the sons and daughters of those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our communities.

To every law enforcement family in our community: thank you. Your support, strength, and sacrifices make a difference every single day.

💙 Please join us this month in recognizing and celebrating the children behind the badge.
