COATS FOR KIDS! ❤️🧥

The boxes are out, our community partners are on board, and now it’s time to make a difference! 📦🙌

The Sallisaw FOP Lodge 148 Coats for Kids drive is officially underway, and we need your help to make this a successful first week!

🧡 Here’s how you can help:
✅ Donate new or gently used children’s coats. See previous posts for drop off locations.
✅ Drop them off at any of our participating collection box locations.
✅ Share this post to help spread the word!

Every coat can help keep a child warm this winter. Let’s show our kids what happens when a community comes together!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜

Domestic violence happens in communities of every size, including small towns like ours. And it doesn't always look the way you might expect.

It can be physical violence, but it can also be threats, intimidation, controlling money, isolating someone from friends and family, or constantly making someone afraid of what will happen next.

This month, we'll be sharing a few reminders about recognizing abuse, looking out for one another, and knowing when and how to get help.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911. 💜

Two of our Sallisaw Police officers recently responded to a male standing on a bridge in a situation involving serious safety concerns. Through, communication and compassion, the officers were able to get him to sit down and safely move away from the bridge.

He was then taken to receive the necessary mental health treatment. He was not arrested or charged in connection with this incident.

The Sallisaw FOP Lodge 148 is proud of how our officers handled this situation, demonstrating that sometimes the most important tools an officer has are patience, understanding, and a willingness to listen.

Great job, officers! 💙🖤

The days are getting shorter, which means it's starting to get dark earlier.
So it's a good time to take a quick look at your home security habits.

💡 Keep your porch and outside lights on after dark.
🚪 Double-check that doors, garages, sheds, and vehicles are locked.
📦 Don't let packages sit on the porch longer than necessary.
🌳 Keep bushes and landscaping trimmed around doors and windows.
👀 And as always, keep an eye out for your neighbors.

A few little habits can make your home a much less appealing target!

As the evenings get darker, let's keep looking out for each other!

Friends and community members....Be sure to start keeping an eye out after dark...this time of year, the deer and other wildlife are on the move.

As we get closer to deer season, you're likely to see more wildlife moving around, especially around dusk and after dark.

Slow down on those back roads, use your high beams when appropriate, and keep an eye on the shoulders. And remember, if you see one deer, there's a pretty good chance another one isn't far behind.

We're all used to seeing deer around here, but it only takes a second for one to step into the road.

Stay alert, give yourself a little extra time to react, and be safe!
