Tri Community Mediation What is Mediation? Mediation is an informal process that lets people speak for themselves and work together to find a lasting solution to their conflict.

The mediators are there to support people having tough conversations.

•Mediation is voluntary. Participants decide what they want to talk about and how they want to talk about it. Any participant can end the process at any time and no one is forced to agree to anything they do not want to agree to in mediation.

•The professionally trained mediators are non-judgmental. The mediators do not take sides, decide who is right or wrong, give advice, or make suggestions. They are there to ask questions, make sure everyone feels heard and understood, and guide participants through a collaborative problem solving process.

•Mediation maintains people's confidentiality. The mediators will not tell anyone what was said during the mediation process (with the exception of mentions of child abuse, abuse of a vulnerable adult, or a credible threat to do bodily harm). Mediation participants are free to talk to other people in their lives about what gets said in mediation, unless they agree otherwise within the mediation.

Our July 2026 TCM Newsletter is here. This month, we’re celebrating the end of Becca’s Maryland Corps service year and the incredible heart, creativity, and dedication she brought to Tri Community Mediation. Her energy strengthened our outreach, supported our events, and added so much warmth to our team.
Take a moment to read her highlight and catch up on everything happening across TCM this summer.
💙💜💚 Thank you, Becca, for all you’ve poured into our community.

Thank you for welcoming us to your Third Place gathering. We truly value the opportunity to connect with members of the community and to share our passion for peacemaking!

Tonight, Third Place welcomed guest presenters from Tri Community Mediation to help us learn about what they do as a nonprofit, offering free support for people having tough conversations. What does it mean to engage with conflict in a healthy way? What conflict style do you gravitate toward in different situations? How can learning about conflict help us love our neighbors as ourselves? Thank you for a fun and interactive evening!
