Sharon, shown here with her husband Ray, has strived to connect those who have with those in need! And this is a testament to the trust her community has in her!
Just one example of her work: after seeing the plight of homelessness in the downtown area where she worked for 48 years, Sharon helped initiate a homeless program at St. James AME Zion Church. On the first Saturday in December each year the Soup to the Sanctuary initiative serves more than 100 homeless persons with basic humanitarian supplies, hot meals, clothing, and haircuts.

Additionally, she has served on various nonprofit agencies in leadership roles, including the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, the Black Excellence Community Fund, United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Village of Hope, Wor-Wic Community College, the Salisbury Award Committee, the Christian Shelter, and the Wicomico County Board of Elections, plus many others.

Mrs. Morris retired from the Wicomico County government in 2015, serving at that time as the Assistant Director of Administration. She joined First Shore Federal in 2016, retiring in 2024 as a Community Reinvestment Activity Officer.

Outstanding Community Member Honored by The Rotary Club of Salisbury

The Salisbury Rotary Club's Four Way Test award is presented annually to a non-Rotarian whose life exemplifies outstanding service and leadership to our community, incorporating the tenants of the Rotary Four-Way Test that asks persons of the things they think, say, or do:

Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

The recipient of the prestigious 2026 Four Way Test Award was presented to: SHARON A. MORRIS!

In presenting the award, the club noted that Sharon epitomizes the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, and the tenets of the Four-Way Test. She effortlessly and effectively can move from the soup kitchen to a holiday ball, or the board room, to the church pantry. Throughout her decades of community work, the way she treats others and earns respect because she leads with respect is remarkable.

Club President Chris let us know Richard Caines, Mng. Ed. of the Salisbury Independent, was not able to make tonight's meeting as our speaker. So, our program committee performed heroically and, in his stead, our evening's speaker was Neil Winston, Chief Engineer of HopFlyt Inc., pictured here with Club President Chris!
Neil's presentation was about drones, drone technology and about HopFlyt, Inc., and who they are!
The company was founded to solve a very specific problem: Today’s vertical lift aircraft are inefficient, not optimized for small payloads, and too costly for routine missions.
Founder Rob Winston saw this firsthand during his career in military aviation and strategic planning. He knew that we needed better, more efficient vertical flight, especially in maritime and austere environments where logistics are the most challenging. Rob made it his mission to deliver safe, efficient, and scalable hybrid electric vertical lift for real world logistics – especially where traditional aircraft fall short.
Per Neil, HopFlyt is building this solution from the ground up. Our aircraft are designed to deliver critical parts and supplies autonomously – at a fraction of the cost of a helicopter, and with no need for special infrastructure.
Super interesting topic! Thank you Neil!
