📣 Parents, caregivers, teachers, counselors, coaches, mentors & community partners — do you know a teen who is ready to use their voice?

Families First NC, Inc. is looking for young people ages 13–19 to join our Youth Leadership Council! 🌟

This is an opportunity for teens to do more than simply attend another program. We want them to share their ideas, speak up about issues that matter to them, build leadership skills, connect with other young people, and help create positive change in their community.

Youth Leadership Council members will also have the opportunity to earn community service hours while gaining experience they can carry into school, college, employment, and beyond.

Meetings will be held approximately once a month from September through May, so now is the perfect time to get connected.

Good food, family fun, and community—what better way to spend a Saturday morning?

This past weekend, our Strengthening Families Program brought families together for a Pancake Breakfast filled with food, games, back-to-school supplies, laughter, and connection!

A HUGE thank you to Thousand Branches Wellness - North Carolina for their sponsorship and to all of the families who came out and spent the morning with us ❤️

We loved having the opportunity to connect, have a little fun, and kick off the school year together.

And we couldn't let this post go by without showing some love to our Families First staff! 👏🏾 Thank you for the time, energy, teamwork, and heart you put into making the morning special for our families. The work that happens behind the scenes matters just as much as what everyone sees on event day.

Today, we celebrate the organizations, staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters who show up every day with one goal in mind: making our communities stronger.

At Families First NC, Inc., that means showing up for children, youth, parents, and families—whether we're teaching new skills, creating safe spaces, connecting families to support, or simply reminding someone that they don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.

We are grateful for every family who trusts us, every community partner who works alongside us, and every supporter who believes in the work we do.

When we invest in families, we invest in the future of our entire community.

What if the ONLY way you could communicate was through animal noises?

Could you find your partner? 👀

During our Families First staff retreat at Camp Canaan, one of our team- building activities put our communication skills to the test with a little twist. We had to find our matching "farm animal" using ONLY sound of our assigned animal. No talking allowed!

This was such a fun reminder that good communication takes active listening, patience, and finding ways to connect even when you aren't speaking the same language 💚

Sometimes, strengthening families starts with strengthening the team that serves them. 💙💚💛❤️

Earlier this week, the Families First team stepped away from the everyday hustle and bustle for a staff retreat at Camp Canaan .

We spent the day laughing, connecting, participating in team-building activities, and most importantly getting to know one another beyond our roles and responsibilities.

When you're used to showing up for children and families every day, it's easy to stay focused on the next program, the next family, or the next task. This retreat gave us an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and pour into the people we work alongside.

A special THANK YOU to Camp Canaan and their amazing staff for welcoming us and helping create such a fun and memorable experience! Your hospitality, encouragement, and energy helped make our retreat a wonderful day for the Families First team.

We returned refreshed, more connected, and ready to continue doing what we do best—showing up for our children, families, and community.

Because strong teams help build stronger families. 💙

Families First-NC, Inc. provides resources and support that help young parents gain confidence, build healthy relationships, and create brighter futures for their children.

One example is their Empowerment Circle for Young Mothers, held on the third Saturday of each month, offering encouragement and support for prenatal and parenting teens ages 13-19.

We're proud to partner with organizations like Families First NC that are making a lasting impact across Rowan County.

This past weekend, we were honored to be a part of the 31st Annual Salisbury Juneteenth Celebration: Community in Color.

We enjoyed spending the day engaging with families, sharing resources, and celebrating a day that reminds us of the importance of freedom, culture, community, and connection.

A special thank you to the event organizers City of Salisbury, North Carolina - Government Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department for inviting us to participate and for creating a space where organizations, families, and community members could come together in celebration and fellowship.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve, connect, and continue our mission of strengthening families and empowering communities.
