This summer, our clients will enjoy fresh, local produce once a month thanks to our friends at the Rowan Food and Farm Network, who received funding from the Robertson Foundation to provide seasonal produce to Meals on Wheels Rowan clients.

So far, our clients have enjoyed fresh strawberries from Miller Farm Fresh Produce and zucchinis from Correll Farms LLC.!

Meals on Wheels Rowan is seeking a reliable and friendly part-time Delivery Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for picking up and transporting meals from our meal provider and delivering to meal sites and clients in the Salisbury and China Grove areas.

🎉 50 Years. One Mission. Still Going Strong.

On May 13, 1976, Meals on Wheels of Rowan, Inc. was officially incorporated. Just a few months later, in August 1976, our very first meals were delivered, right out of Catawba College.

We are so proud to celebrate 50 years of serving Rowan County. Since 1976, Meals on Wheels Rowan has been delivering more than meals; we have delivered connection, dignity, and hope to our homebound seniors.

This milestone belongs to every volunteer who has ever loaded a route, every donor who believed in our mission, and every client who welcomed us through their door. We could not do any of it without this incredible community.

Today, Lynette’s team has prepared a special lunch for Mother’s Day. For the first time ever, we are able to incorporate the produce collected at the Rowan County Cooperative Extension Donation Station at the Salisbury/Rowan Farmers' Market into our meals!

Not only do our clients get to enjoy a yummy steak, but they get to enjoy fresh strawberries, spinach, and lettuce from Twin Oak Farms, Correll Farms LLC., Miller Farm Fresh Produce, and Downing Farms, LLC.

Thank you to our shoppers and farmers who helped bring a taste of the farmers market to our homebound seniors!

Make sure to stop by the Donation Station, generously hosted by the Rowan County Cooperative Extension, once a month at the Salisbury/Rowan Farmers' Market. Your donations of produce or funds will provide LOCAL, fresh produce for our seniors to enjoy!

Being homebound means missing out on everyday moments many of us take for granted, like a trip to the farmers market or the ability to grow your own garden.

Your donations help us change that. We deliver directly to the doors of seniors who can no longer get out, bringing a little piece of this community right to them. We appreciate the support of all who enable our work!

For half a century, our volunteers and staff have delivered more than a meal to homebound seniors in Rowan County. We are so grateful to Salisbury Magazine for helping us mark this milestone!

This May, Meals on Wheels Rowan will celebrate 50 years of nourishing seniors in Rowan County!

In 1976, a group of compassionate individuals had a simple, but powerful idea: that no one senior in Rowan County should go hungry or feel forgotten. Fifty years later, we are proud to continue this mission.

And what better month to mark this milestone than April, National Volunteer Appreciation Month! This important milestone is because of the thousands and thousands of volunteers who have delivered meals, connections, and JOY to our homebound seniors.

We are so excited to kick off our 50th with an entire month of celebrating our wonderful volunteers who made Meals on Wheels Rowan possible. We would not exist without you.

Every client receives a Birthday Bag during their birthday month! We are able to make this happen thanks to our generous donors and volunteers who provide the items that go inside. If you would like to contribute, we are currently accepting donations. We have a general list of needed items, but you are welcome to get creative.

Many of our clients live alone, and a birthday bag delivered with their meal is a simple way to let them know someone is thinking of them.

Items can be dropped off at our office, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury.

We are incredibly grateful for our longstanding partnership with Novant Health.

In 2025, Novant Health stepped up as our inaugural Community Champion, sponsoring meals for every single one of our clients each quarter. It was a meaningful commitment that made a real difference in our ability to serve Rowan County's most vulnerable residents.

Today, that partnership continued. Ten Novant Health team members spent their morning delivering meals, connecting face-to-face with the homebound seniors we serve.

What’s for lunch? Today, we are serving up a delicious burrito with fresh-made guacamole, rice, beans, and fruit!

Each meal is thoughtfully prepared to provide at least 1/3 of the Recommended Daily Allowance of nutrients for older adult. But we don’t stop there. We go above and beyond by including an extra fruit and vegetable to make sure our clients are getting the nourishment they need.

Because everyone deserves a meal that is as delicious as it is nutritious!
