Mission Statement for Meals on Wheels Rowan:
The mission of Meals on Wheels Rowan is to deliver food and nutritious meals to Rowan County seniors and individuals who have difficulty leaving their homes and/or are challenged to prepare their meals. Volunteers and Staff build relationships, provide referrals and work to mitigate social isolation. Statement of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Meals on Wheels Rowan:

Meet Our Staff: Linda Kanipe 💙

Today we're spotlighting Linda Kanipe, Site Coordinator!

Linda is one of the Site Coordinators at our Shiloh pick-up location, helping ensure volunteers have everything they need to deliver meals efficiently and on time each day. You may also recognize Linda as one of our amazing "super subs." When routes need coverage, Linda is always willing to step in and deliver meals to make sure our participants never miss a visit.

When asked what she enjoys most about Meals on Wheels Rowan, Linda shared:
"What a special organization to be affiliated with! For me, it’s the people: the very appreciative participants, the wonderful, friendly volunteers (many who have become besties), and most importantly my awesome coworkers over the years, both current and former."

Thank you, Linda, for your dedication, flexibility, and commitment to serving Rowan County seniors. Whether coordinating at Shiloh or covering a delivery route, you help keep our wheels turning every day. ❤️

Did You Know?

20% of Meals on Wheels Rowan participants are age 90 and older!

Our county's oldest residents have spent a lifetime building the community we call home. Through nutritious meal delivery, friendly visits, and wellness checks, Meals on Wheels Rowan helps seniors remain in their own homes, maintain their independence, and age with dignity.

Because growing older shouldn't mean growing alone. ❤️

Yesterday, Meals on Wheels Rowan had the pleasure of hosting Catawba College Recreational Therapy students. 💙

During their visit, the students learned about our mission, programs, and the impact we have on the lives of local seniors. They then put their education into practice by shopping for groceries for two participants in our grocery assistance program.

We love partnering with local colleges and universities to provide hands-on learning opportunities while making a meaningful difference in our community. Thank you to these future professionals for spending the day with us and helping support older adults in Rowan County!

🤧 Cold, flu, RSV, and allergy season is here! If you're feeling sick or experiencing symptoms such as fever, coughing, a sore throat, or an upset stomach, please stay home. Many of the seniors we serve may be immunocompromised, and even minor illnesses can pose serious risks. Thank you for helping us keep our neighbors safe! 💙

Meet Our Staff: Leslie Cataldo 💙

Today we're highlighting Leslie Cataldo, Care Coordinator and AniMEALS Coordinator!

Leslie helps ensure seniors receive not only nutritious meals and caring support, but also assistance for their beloved pets through our AniMEALS program. From coordinating pet food deliveries to helping seniors access veterinary care for their four-legged companions, Leslie's work makes a meaningful difference for both our participants and their furry friends.

Leslie shares:
"I love my job at MOW because I feel that I am making a difference in our clients’ lives, whether by providing daily meals, offering kind words and actions, or caring for their cherished pets through food and veterinary care."

🚗 Did you know? You don't have to commit year-round or deliver meals on your own to volunteer with Meals on Wheels Rowan!

Volunteers of all ages can get involved, and even young children can ride along with a parent, grandparent, or caregiver. If getting in and out of the car is difficult, simply team up with a "jumper" who can take meals to the door. We also encourage volunteers to bring a buddy along for a safer and more enjoyable delivery experience.

No matter your schedule or ability level, there's a place for you to help make a difference! ❤️

Today was a sweet day for our Meals on Wheels clients, thanks to our wonderful partnership with Rowan Food and Farm Network! Every client received beautiful sweet potatoes grown right here in Rowan County at Elium Farm. 🌱🚜

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Catawba College as part of their Community Service Day! 🎉 During their time with Meals on Wheels Rowan, these students completed two delivery routes and had the opportunity to visit with several of our participants, sharing smiles, conversation, and compassion along the way.
