To all of the wonderful, amazing, loving supporters of Beyond Your Walls, the Shower Trailer has been transferred to Worcester Goes Purple. They are already out in the community continuing our mission. With the help of some other local partners, they will be able to expand the services offered while helping more people. Homes4Hope is excited to announce that it has been given the opportunity to take over the operation of the Beyond Your Walls Shower Trailer.

Beyond Your Walls was founded by Leslie and George McGinnity in 2018. The shower trailer was designed to provide the unhoused population in the tri-county area with a warm shower and much-needed essentials. Leslie and George worked tirelessly to create community partnerships and support for their vision. Most importantly, Leslie, George, and their family worked hard to earn the trust of those who visited the shower trailer. Their love and commitment to the community was felt in every interaction.

This year, Leslie and George felt ready to pass the torch. They agreed that the right organization to carry on this program would be able to offer additional services needed in this population. They worked with Homes4Hope to ensure that mental health and addiction counseling would be offered to anyone utilizing the shower trailer regardless of their ability to pay. The McGinnitys entrusted Homes4Hope to continue the Beyond Your Walls mission, and they could not be more excited to begin offering this service to the tri-county community.

The first Homes4Hope Shower Trailer event will be held :

While our showers may be closed for the upcoming holidays, Beyond Your Walls Head Elf, Diamond, was out delivering gifts today to our men and women experiencing homelessness.

These gifts were so generously donated by the Youth Group at Asbury Mt Vernon United Methodist Church in Sharptown.

We are so very grateful for your generosity, and the opportunity to provide Christmas to those whom often are forgotten!

The days have been BUSY! Last Tuesday we pressed pause on showers and served food downtown to those within our community! HUGE thank you to Irish Penny Pub & Grill & Jeri Miller for providing chili, cornbread and cookies!!! We are so grateful for the community’s support!!! 🩵

We have GREAT NEWS!!

Alfred was able to move into housing!!

Thank you Laura for your willingness to work with us in this unique circumstance!

We are so incredibly grateful for the generosity of every single person who has donated and continues to donate!!

There are still a few items on the wishlist, and we would still like to raise enough to cover his rent for at least a year!

🎊CITY WIDE HOUSEWARMING PARTY🎊
Below we have attached the link to the Amazon Wishlist for Mr. Johns’ new apartment! He is going to need EVERYTHING that makes a house a HOME!

We truly are excited that we get to have this opportunity to have a house warming party for him as he walks into this NEW season and YOU’RE ALL INVITED!!!

We are meeting with a community member tomorrow for some of the bigger items like furniture, however everything on this list he needs and we would prefer it be new as this is a new start, new story, and new chapter for Mr. Johns. Typically we don’t mind gently used items but with this particular story we really feel in our hearts the newness is symbolic. Thank you in advance for your kindness, support, and generosity! After our post yesterday, a landlord reached out stating she has an open unit.

Today, we drove back to Seton Center to fill out all of the paperwork, and we will be meeting with the landlord on Monday!!!!

Once Alfred is approved, we will need lots of help getting the things he needs to make it HOME!

He is coming from homelessness so he will need furniture, bedding, curtains, towels, pots, pans, dishes, cleaning supplies etc.!

We will reach out with specific needs once we know more!
