Dr. Brandy Starkey Terrill Memorial Scholarship at Salisbury University
Dr. Brandy Terrill, 47, of Berlin, passed away peacefully at her home with loved ones by her side on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. She fought hard to beat an aggressive liver cancer that was detected in September 2020, but had no fear because her faith was taking her home. Brandy was born in Baltimore, but spent her life in Salisbury and Berlin, Maryland. Brandy graduated from Parkside High School in 1991. Her love of education took her to Salisbury University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in 1994 and her master’s degree in education in 2000. Driven to succeed, Brandy earned her doctorate at the University of Delaware in Curriculum, Technology, and Higher Education in 2011. Brandy began her teaching career at The Salisbury School before returning to Salisbury University as a lecturer in 2005. She advanced to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Early and Elementary Education. Brandy’s professional passion was in integrating the arts into the classroom. In 2019, she was awarded the Faculty Appreciation Award for the Seidel School of Education. This was a particular point of pride, as it is an award voted on by former students. Brandy impacted many lives via her creative teaching style, with many students thanking her for her contribution to their success. This memorial scholarship was created in Brandy’s name to support education majors in their final internship year, as she loved supervising interns in local schools. Jamey Lee Griswold Landon:
Former Camp Odyssey Director Jamey Lee Griswold Landon passed away in 2012. Jamey had a welcoming smile, an infectious laugh, and bouts of goofiness that earned her the nickname of Queen Nerd at Camp Odyssey. A Maryland State Teacher of the Year, Jamey also held two Masters in Education and led Salisbury University Women’s basketball to a state championship as captain. Despite decades of debilitating and life-threatening health issues, her positive attitude remains a blessing. To honor both Jamey and Brandy, the Queen & Princess Nerd Fund was established at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. This fund provides camp scholarships for families in need/crisis and suffering from loss. Donate to the Queen and Princess Nerd Fund - https://www.cfes.org/donate
