Salisbury Housing Trust

Salisbury Housing Trust Salisbury Housing Trust supports home ownership in Salisbury, Connecticut, through support of private donors and the community.

MISSION:

The mission of The Salisbury Housing Trust, Inc. is to make home ownership a reality for Salisbury Township workers, residents, and volunteers. The focus is on providing homes through private (non-governmental) funding. OBJECTIVES:

We are building single-family two- and three-bedroom homes which will be priced to sell below the current median home sales price. Factors helping to keep th

e price affordable include the following:

-The Salisbury Housing Trust, Inc. retains ownership of the underlying land through a ground lease arrangement, and the buyer pays only for the dwelling.

-We seek the support of town residents and institutions through generous donations.

-We sincerely believe that this initiative is of long-term importance to the Town of Salisbury and encourage you to join the effort. For further information, please write or email us at:

Rep Jahana Hayes was instrumental in securing $110,000 in federal funds for these single-family homes on Perry Street. Today she got to tour the finished project. Thank you for coming! We love when you visit Salisbury.

There is still time to apply for one of these homes. Fill out the preapplication at https://www.salisburycthousing.org/current-homes-for-sale

In 2024, I secured community project funding to support efforts by Salisbury Housing Trust to build affordable homes in the area.
Today, I went back to see the finished houses which will expand homeownership opportunities to families priced out of the market and create homes for local workers.

Two new homes are one step closer to reality! Yesterday site preparation began at 26 & 28 Under Mountain Road. The site plan approved by P&Z in July 2024 required the removal of the old oak tree in the middle of the lot (see attached photo). We are grateful to the careful work of Arbor Services of CT, who discovered that the tree had become dangerous. They were able to remove it safely.

The Housing Trust will announce the timeline for the construction of the homes as soon as it is known. Like at the Perry Street site, where homes are nearly ready to be moved into, there will be some disruption when the modular pieces arrive.
