Partnership for Children

Partnership for Children PFC provides transportation to medical appointments and family support for children living with serious illness on California's Central Coast.

Partnership for Children is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with serious illness and the families who care for them. We work alongside families across Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties to reduce stress, remove barriers to care, and bring moments of relief, stability, and joy during some of life’s most challenging times. Our programs focus on meeting real, ever

yday needs so families can focus on what matters most—their child’s health and well-being. Through safe and reliable transportation to medical appointments, financial assistance to help families remain housed and connected to utilities, monthly grocery support, and practical resources like diapers, car seats, and school supplies, we provide compassionate, wraparound support tailored to each family’s situation. Because every child deserves care—and every family deserves support.

Partnership for Children supports families with a child (ages birth through 21) diagnosed with a serious illness. We currently serve families living in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties in California.

Transportation is one of our key services. Getting to medical care shouldn’t be a barrier to comfort, care, or hope. We provide rides and gas assistance so families can reach hospitals and specialists — often hours away — and ensure their child receives the support they need, whatever the journey holds.

Our Team - Small But Mighty!

At Partnership for Children, we may be a small team, but our hearts — and our impact — are big! With passion, creativity, and deep dedication, we work hand-in-hand with families, partners, and our community to make sure children living with serious illness receive the care and support they deserve. Every day, we show that a little team can do a whole lot of good.

Family Spotlight: A Father’s Dedication, a Community’s Support

When William became a father to Van and stepfather to Manny, he faced the challenges of caring for two children while navigating medical appointments and therapies. Tragically, Patricia, Manny and Van’s mother, passed away just a month after Van was born, leaving William as the sole caregiver.

Learn how Partnership for Children helped to support William, enabling him to focus on what matters most: keeping his family together and helping both Van and Manny thrive. Read at https://www.partnerforkids.org/stories

Today, our transportation and family support programs help children access consistent, compassionate care and remind families that they are not alone on their journey.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to walk alongside families — providing practical help, meaningful connection, and moments of joy — so children living with serious illness and their families can feel supported, seen, and cared for every step of the way.

Ten years ago, Partnership for Children began with a simple but powerful idea: that no family facing a child’s serious illness should ever have to feel alone. What started as a small, community-driven effort has grown into a trusted support system for hundreds of families across Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties — and we are deeply grateful to every family, donor, volunteer, partner, and advocate who has been part of this journey.

Over the past decade, we’ve learned that meaningful change happens when people come together with purpose, empathy, and hope. Every ride to treatment, grocery delivery, financial assistance grant, birthday celebration, and moment of emotional support represents more than a service — it represents care, dignity, and connection.

This past weekend, I ran into a family at a soccer game — one of the very first families we ever served.

It stopped me in my tracks.

Moments like that have a way of bringing everything into focus — how far families have come, and why this work matters so deeply.

As we celebrate 10 years of Partnership for Children, I took some time to reflect on what we’ve learned along the way — about consistency, trust, and what it truly means to support families navigating serious illness.

💜 We shared those reflections in our latest blog.
