A community where farm workers are empowered to serve as leaders and where community decision makers seek the counsel of these farm worker leaders. Our Core Values

Inclusiveness: CCA is dedicated to promote an environment in which communities provi

de resources that foster leadership development among farmworkers such that they serve as leaders and participate in community building and decision making. Equity: CCA promotes communication and dialogue among farm workers, agricultural and housing businesses, politicians, visionaries, investors/funders and community leaders. In doing so, CCA builds links across sectors, and strengthens mutual understanding to foster equity in the communities it serves and supports.

🔍 Wondering what we’ve been up to? We have been busy advocating for the rights to habitable housing for our community!

The Center for Community Advocacy is collaborating with tenant groups to ensure everyone knows their rights and responsibilities, as well as the obligations of property owners. Right now, 30 families in a King City complex are facing serious habitability issues.

Tenants have reported urgent problems like mold, damaged floors, windows without screens, and infestations of cockroaches and mice. Despite their many requests, the property owners have not made the necessary repairs to ensure safe living conditions.

The affected tenants are now requesting a meeting with the property owners to address these issues and find solutions for their families. CCA will continue to advocate and support them in their fight for safe and dignified housing.

🔍 ¿Se pregunta qué hemos estado haciendo? ¡Hemos estado trabajando arduamente para defender el derecho de nuestra comunidad a una vivienda en condiciones habitables!

El Center for Community Advocacy (CCA) colabora con grupos de inquilinos para asegurar que todos conozcan sus derechos y responsabilidades, así como las obligaciones de los propietarios. Actualmente, 30 familias de un complejo residencial en King City enfrentan graves problemas de habitabilidad.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

We're thrilled to share that we received the Excellence Award for our outstanding work on the Safe Routes to School project (TAMC)! 🎉

This initiative has not only enhanced the safety of our families and students, but it has also empowered community leadership through the CCA. Over the past 18 months, dedicated community members have actively participated in planning meetings, resulting in important improvements like roundabouts and street line paintings in key areas. 🚸

Additionally, we formed a community committee to address the need for street repairs to ensure student safety. Thanks to the CCA, we were able to conduct a voting process that engaged the community, resulting in an amazing 999 votes! 🗳️

Nos complace anunciar que recibimos el Premio a la Excelencia por nuestra destacada labor en el proyecto Rutas Seguras a la Escuela (TAMC).

Esta iniciativa no solo ha mejorado la seguridad de nuestras familias y estudiantes, sino que también ha fortalecido el liderazgo comunitario a través del CCA. Durante los últimos 18 meses, miembros comprometidos de la comunidad han participado activamente en las reuniones de planificación, lo que ha dado como resultado mejoras importantes como rotondas y la pintura de las líneas de las calles en zonas clave.

Además, formamos un comité comunitario para abordar la necesidad de realizar reparaciones en las calles y garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes. Gracias al CCA, pudimos llevar a cabo un proceso de votación que involucró a la comunidad, ¡con un resultado sorprendente de 999 votos!

"His advocacy and activism grew in the 1970s during the conflict between the UFW and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to represent farmworkers, which led to the Salad Bowl strike, the largest farmworker strike in the U.S. He’s one of the voices in The Union of Their Dreams: Power, Hope, and Struggle in Cesar Chavez’s Farm Worker Movement by Miriam Pawel. The book describes UFW’s rise, fall, and aftermath".
