Alisal Center for the Fine Arts ACFA offers free fine arts instruction in Traditional Aztec Dance, Visual Arts, Latin Percussion, Rondlla Guitar and Community Theater.

MISSION - The Alisal Center for Fine Arts is a creative hub for artists and advocates alike connecting, teaching and strengthening our community. Through a holistic approach, we cultivate youth leaders committed to cultural affirmation and community transformation. VISION - A vibrant and engaged East Salinas where youth and elders are valued as leaders in the transformation of our community. East

Salinas is a neighborhood that nurtures intergenerational relationships and fosters cultural knowledge and traditions through transformative artistic expression. Teatro Xochiti Ollin ( Blossoming Movement) is ACFA’s house theater program born out of a partnership between ACFA, The Hartnell Packard Foundation, and the Western Stage. Grounded in the values of personal development and community engagement, this program draws from a variety of theatrical techniques to prepare the young actor or actress to enter into any theatrical atmosphere with confidence, competence, and grace. Teatro Xochtli Ollin is currently working on their upcoming production of "East Side Cenicienta", which will premier on May 19th, 2017. La Rondalla del Centro de Bellas Artes de Alisal exposes participants to the rich cultural history of Rondalla music. These guitar-centric workshops begin with the basics of tuning and strumming and graduate to chord progressions and ensemble performance. Participants have the option of joining beginner, intermediate or advanced level classes. Their guitars are supplied through a partnership with the Guitars Not Guns non-profit program. Yaocuauhtli Danza Cultural is a calpulli (social unit) dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the community of Salinas thru Aztec dance, music, song and culture. Since its founding in 2003, Yaocuauhtli is dedicated to strengthening the identity of the Mexican community by teaching indigenous traditions of their ancestors to future generations. learn the cultural and spiritual traditional dances of the pre-Columbian Aztec people. Through dance routines and indigenous knowledge shared, students are taught to honor and respect life's elements (earth, fire, air, water, sun and moon) through rich and meaningful dance routines. ImaginArte is a multi-disciplinary visual arts class, participants are taught to explore and express their artistic voices through a wide range of media including, but not limited to, illustration, painting, sculpture, scenic design, costume design, photography, filming, and editing. Workshops take place at our visual arts studio at ACFA. ACFA presents "World Beat" drum classes that focus its curriculum around African and Afro-Latino rhythms in efforts to help build community through drum circles. This program welcomes students of all grade levels to participate.
