This past Saturday marked a special milestone for Girls Inc. of the Central Coast as we hosted our first-ever 8th Grade Retreat in Gonzales! We were thrilled to welcome local 8th-grade girls for a day focused on preparing for high school, building confidence, and creating connections that will help them navigate the exciting years ahead.

Throughout the retreat, the girls participated in engaging activities and conversations centered around healthy and unhealthy relationships, peer pressure, social media, self-care, female health and hygiene, goal setting, and preparing for high school. They had the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, learn from one another, and gain practical tools they can carry with them into this next chapter.

We are so proud to say that our first Gonzales retreat was a success! A heartfelt thank you to the City of Gonzales and Fairview Middle School for re-welcoming Girls Inc. into your community and helping make this experience possible for the girls. Your partnership and support made a meaningful difference.

We’re excited about what this new partnership with Gonzales and look forward to continuing to create opportunities for girls to grow, connect, and step into their future Strong, Smart & Bold!

What an incredible evening at our 9th Annual Tastes & Treasures Fundraiser in Hollister! We are so grateful to everyone who came together this past Saturday to support the girls of Girls Inc. of the Central Coast.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing sponsors for your generosity and continued belief in the girls we serve. Your support helps us provide meaningful after-school programs and opportunities for girls throughout San Benito County. We truly could not do this work without you.

Girls Inc. of the Central Coast is grateful to Macy’s for their generous grant supporting our Youth Internship Program Leaders and investing in the professional development of young women.

This past Saturday, September 19, our interns were welcomed by the Macy’s Salinas team for a special day focused on preparing for their futures. With guidance from Macy’s stylists and customer experience colleagues, our girls explored professional attire and workplace style, professionalism, interview skills, making a positive first impression, and career pathways. They also heard from a guest speaker who shared their professional journey and insights.

And then came a special surprise! Made possible through Macy’s generous grant, each of our girls received a gift card to shop for professional attire—an incredibly thoughtful way to help them feel confident, prepared, and ready to step into the workplace.

A huge thank you to Deshun Williford and his team at Macy’s for creating such a meaningful experience for our girls and for your generosity and commitment to investing in the potential of young women. Your support is helping our girls build confidence, envision their futures, and take meaningful steps toward becoming the next generation of leaders.

Our Growing Together programs are back!

Growing Together gives parents and other significant adults the opportunity to spend meaningful time with their 9–12-year-old daughters while learning, growing, and having important conversations together.

Through fun activities, families will explore communication, values, decision-making, life changes, goal setting, and supporting each other’s dreams.

On Saturday, September 26, Girls Inc. of the Central Coast for San Benito County will hold its 9th Annual “Tastes & Treasures” Fundraiser

Silent Auction • Music • Food • B**r • W**e Tasting
at 3028 Cienega Rd, Hollister
from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

This event will raise crucial funds that benefit the girls who participate in Girls Inc. of the Central Coast’s programs for San Benito County. Over the past nine years we have worked with over 1450 girls from San Benito High School, Rancho San Justo Middle School, Ladd Lane Elementary School, Calaveras Elementary School, Spring Grove School and Willow Grove School. All programs are conducted after school at school sites.

Prepared to Lead. Prepared to Save a Life.

This past Saturday, we were honored to welcome Anna-Marie Scott from Six Minutes to Live: Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Fire Department to Girls Inc. for an incredibly meaningful CPR and Stop the Bleed training with our high school interns and staff.

This training meant so much to us—not only because these are important, potentially life-saving skills, but because it reflects what we believe at Girls Inc.: when we equip girls with knowledge, confidence, and the tools to respond in challenging moments, we empower them to make a difference.

Our girls are preparing to be strong, smart, bold leaders in their schools, workplaces, and communities. Learning how to perform hands-only CPR, use an AED, and respond to life-threatening bleeding is another way we can help them be prepared to step up when it matters most.

Thank you to Anna-Marie Scott for sharing your time, expertise, and passion with our girls and staff. Your work to strengthen the chain of survival and increase access to lifesaving education in our community is truly inspiring.

So proud of Stephanie and the incredible young woman she has become.

“Ser una persona segura de sí misma no significa no dudar nunca, sino seguir adelante a pesar de esas dudas”, asegura Stephanie Cruz, estudiante de ciencias biológicas en la Universidad de California, Irvine, quien sueña con convertirse en neurocirujana.

Durante años, sintió que no era suficiente: se comparaba con lo que veía en redes sociales y dudaba de su propio valor. Pero encontró en Girls Inc. oportunidades para salir de su zona de confort y una comunidad que la ayudó a descubrir sus fortalezas.

“No hubo un único momento que cambiara todo”, cuenta. “Fue una serie de pequeñas victorias personales que transformaron la manera en que me veía. Comencé a centrarme en lo que puedo aportar a los demás y a mí misma, en lugar de en lo que creía que me faltaba”.
