Prepared to Lead. Prepared to Save a Life.

This past Saturday, we were honored to welcome Anna-Marie Scott from Six Minutes to Live: Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Fire Department to Girls Inc. for an incredibly meaningful CPR and Stop the Bleed training with our high school interns and staff.

This training meant so much to us—not only because these are important, potentially life-saving skills, but because it reflects what we believe at Girls Inc.: when we equip girls with knowledge, confidence, and the tools to respond in challenging moments, we empower them to make a difference.

Our girls are preparing to be strong, smart, bold leaders in their schools, workplaces, and communities. Learning how to perform hands-only CPR, use an AED, and respond to life-threatening bleeding is another way we can help them be prepared to step up when it matters most.

Thank you to Anna-Marie Scott for sharing your time, expertise, and passion with our girls and staff. Your work to strengthen the chain of survival and increase access to lifesaving education in our community is truly inspiring.

So proud of Stephanie and the incredible young woman she has become.

Watching her grow into a confident leader, a UC Irvine biological sciences student, and a future neurosurgeon has been an honor. Her journey is a reminder that confidence isn't about never having doubts—it's about moving forward despite them.

“Ser una persona segura de sí misma no significa no dudar nunca, sino seguir adelante a pesar de esas dudas”, asegura Stephanie Cruz, estudiante de ciencias biológicas en la Universidad de California, Irvine, quien sueña con convertirse en neurocirujana.

Durante años, sintió que no era suficiente: se comparaba con lo que veía en redes sociales y dudaba de su propio valor. Pero encontró en Girls Inc. oportunidades para salir de su zona de confort y una comunidad que la ayudó a descubrir sus fortalezas.

“No hubo un único momento que cambiara todo”, cuenta. “Fue una serie de pequeñas victorias personales que transformaron la manera en que me veía. Comencé a centrarme en lo que puedo aportar a los demás y a mí misma, en lugar de en lo que creía que me faltaba”.

Hoy, sabe que el liderazgo crea un efecto dominó: “Cuando una persona gana confianza, a menudo inspira a otros a hacer lo mismo”.

“Tu valor no está determinado por las calificaciones, la apariencia, las redes sociales o la opinión de otras personas”, comparte con otras jóvenes. “Todos tenemos algo único que ofrecer al mundo, aunque todavía no lo hayamos descubierto”.

This past Saturday, we officially kicked off the new program year with training, team building, and a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of girls. These dedicated mentors and interns are preparing to make a lasting impact by supporting middle and high school girls as they build confidence, develop leadership skills, and discover their full potential.

We are so excited to begin the school year together and can't wait to see the difference this amazing team will make in the lives of the girls we serve.

As another incredible summer camp season comes to a close, we're celebrating the friendships, confidence, and unforgettable memories made along the way. Watching our girls grow stronger, try new things, and shine has been the highlight of our summer.

Summer Camp in Salinas is shinning!

Our participants have been having a great time learning, growing, and building confidence each day!

During our mornings, the girls have explored topics that empower them to become strong, smart, and bold, including:
✨ Leadership
💗 Self-love and confidence
🎯 Goals and dreams
💪 Taking care of our bodies
🧘 Stretching and strength training

In the afternoons, they're putting their skills into action through soccer training and activities, where they're building teamwork, resilience, and confidence on the field!

A huge thank you to our amazing partners at for helping make this camp possible and for investing in the health and wellness of our girls. We are also incredibly grateful to the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex for believing in our mission and for creating opportunities that empower girls through sport.

Our Girls Inc. Summer Tour of Camps continues!

Our Strong, Smart, and Bold Summer Camp is in full swing in Soledad, and our girls have been absolutely AMAZING!

This week has been packed with learning, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. Today alone, our campers:

⚽ Hit the field for soccer fun with the Salinas Regional Sports Complex staff
🚀 Explored outer space and the solar system
🛠️ Put their engineering skills to the test by building rockets and balloon-powered cars!

The energy is through the roof, the smiles are nonstop, and the best part? We still have THREE more days of adventure to go!

It’s summer camp season, and now it’s time for our graduating 8th graders as they prepare to begin high school this fall!

Our LEAD-HER-SHIP summer program gives students the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills, build confidence, and take charge of their futures as they prepare to navigate high school and discover the value of higher education.

Our time at Santa Clara University has been an incredible experience! We've enjoyed the beautiful weather while learning how to set SMART goals, prepare for high school, understand the importance of getting involved, explore the value of higher education, and strengthen our teamwork and leadership skills—all while experiencing college life firsthand.

Our Strong, Smart, and Bold Summer Camp in Hollister kicked off this week, and the energy has been amazing!

Campers have already jumped into a full lineup of activities — from soaking up the sun with tie‑dye creations, to learning about bullying prevention, to building new friendships through team‑building games and a fun soccer clinic.

We can’t wait for even more adventures, learning, and laughter as the week continues!
