🌳 Want More Trees on Your Street? Salinas Has a Program for That.
Did you know Salinas residents can apply for a free street tree through the City’s Adopt-A-Tree Program?
The City will purchase and plant a tree in the parkway area in front of your home. Residents simply agree to help water and care for the tree while it gets established.
For those concerned about roots damaging sidewalks, the City now uses an approved tree list and planting methods designed to reduce sidewalk lifting and infrastructure conflicts. Tree species are selected based on available space and site conditions to help avoid problems that occurred with older plantings.

Salinas currently has less than 8% tree canopy, while the community goal is 25%.
