American Legion Riders Chapter 31 - Monterey County

American Legion Riders Chapter 31 - Monterey County Salinas' own chapter of the American Legion Riders, hosted by American Legion Post 31 in Salinas

The American Legion Riders is formed to promote the aims and purposes of The American Legion as a family oriented motorcycling activity for members of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The Sons of The American Legion. Through activities based on safe and responsible motorcycling we raise money and awareness for veterans causes. We ride because we love it; we serve because it

is our duty - and our passion.. The members of the Legion Riders take our responsibilities seriously. We never lose sight of the fact that our rights and freedoms have been paid for - often by the ultimate sacrifice - by those who have served and those that our serving now. If you are a concerned, patriotic citizen/rider, who would like to continue your service to the country and to come to the aid of deserving veterans, you should consider joining us.

It is with a heavy heart that I report that Gary Deaton - Past Post Commander at Post 694 and Past President of American Legion Riders Chapter 694 - has transitioned to Post Everlasting as of September 21, 2025. Gary was a US Army veteran, having served as a door gunner in Vietnam.

Details of his funeral are still being worked out, and I will keep everyone in the loop as they progress. Please keep Gary's family in your prayers as they deal with their loss.
