Welcome to the homepage for Steinbeck Rotary. We are the "breakfast club" in Salinas. We aren't in detention like in the movie, we just prefer the fun vibe of an early meeting which gets our day off to the best start. In a typical meeting, we meet at the Steinbeck Center, aka Salinas City Center aka CSUMB in Salinas. We meet in the Vista Room which has its own entrance to the right of the main doors. Members of the public are welcome to visit and enjoy our program or to see if Steinbeck Rotary is a good fit for you. Doors open at 7:00am when a hot catered breakfast is served. The meeting starts at 7:30 end ends promptly at 8:30.
We typically have an outside speaker which has been chosen to either inform or entertain. Click here to see our upcoming speakers and the cost attend is $15.00, which includes breakfast.
Our main sources of funding to support our projects and charitable giving are: Steinbeck's Home Brewfest held in May at the Salinas City Center and the National Steinbeck Center, beertending at the Sea Otter Classic in April, the All Star Basketball Game, and for the first time, an activity in concert with Dia Los Mu***os involving local restaurants. All funds raised goes towards our community projects. In a typical year, Steinbeck Rotary Club raises about $40,000.
Steinbeck Rotary has been and avid supporter of Rotary Youth Exchange and has hosted and sponsored exchange students for over thirty-five years. Currently our inbound exchange student is from Japan and we have recently sent an exchange student to Belgium. The Club is very proud of our relationship with Everett Alvarez High School, and a proud sponsor of the Interact Club. The Interact Club has inspired us by their engaging students and creating activities to benefit local causes. Additonally, the Everett Alvarez Interact Club has raised nearly $40,000 over the past three years supporting Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society which helps the fight against cancer.
