Stay Safe!

The National Weather Service in Wichita is forecasting scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms for Saline County this afternoon and tonight. Saline County is included in a Moderate Risk, Level 4 of 5, for severe weather.

Saline County is most likely to see severe storms between 3 p.m. and midnight, although storms may develop as early as 2 p.m.

Main concerns include:
- Up to baseball-size hail
- Damaging winds up to 70 mph
- A few tornadoes, some of which may be strong
- Heavy rainfall

Stay weather-aware throughout the day and evening, and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.

STAY SAFE
- STAY WEATHER-AWARE! Have more than one way to receive weather alerts, including Wireless Emergency Alerts and NOAA Weather Radio.
- Do not rely on outdoor warning sirens, especially if you are indoors.
- Identify a safe place in your home, such as a basement or interior room on the lowest floor.
- Move your vehicle into a garage or under cover.
- Secure outdoor items that could be blown around by strong winds.
- Avoid windows during storms, especially during hail or high winds
- If a warning is issued, take shelter immediately.
