DSA endorses our comrade Isaiah Harris. Isaiah is running to bring the DSA to Kansas’s State House! Isaiah is a true member of the working class and is running to bring better healthcare, affordability, education, and more to the community that made him who he is.

Growing up in a single parent, working class household, Isaiah learned first hand the importance of community and mutual aid. Like too many others, Isaiah is sick of watching elitist, out of touch politicians decide what is best for workers.

Prior to 2025, only two Kansas counties participated in the 287(g) program, which partners local law enforcement agencies with ICE. Under the new Trump Administration, that number has grown to 47 agencies, including county sheriff's offices, municipal police departments, and the KBI.

Over the summer, a few trends in new agreements have emerged. First, rural counties are more likely to enter into more expansive agreements, like the Task Force Model. Second, agencies that had more limited agreements have expanded their role, as in Logan, Rooks, and Anderson Counties. Lastly, municipal agencies with 287(g) agreements have more than doubled since April.
