Earlier this week, Eric helped us kick off our June theme of Community, Pride, and Belonging. One of the ideas we're holding close this month is that belonging can be part of prevention. When people feel connected, valued, and seen they are far more likely to ask for help, speak honestly, take responsibility, and stay engaged with their community.

Belonging can be big and grand... or wonderfully small 🌟 a group that makes room, a community that listens before it judges, a space where you are welcome just as you are.

This month, we’re kicking off our June theme: Community, Pride, and Belonging.

In restorative work, belonging is more than a nice idea. It is connected to prevention, accountability, repair, and the relationships that help people stay supported before things reach a breaking point.

In today’s RJ 101 video, Eric shares why connection matters and how restorative practices can help build communities where people know they matter 🌟

Sandra and her grandson had a great time attending AMR Safety Jam-Fremont County! This annual community event focuses on sharing safety and health information, education, and resources with children and families.

Sandra’s grandson is also part of the Fremont County Youth Action Board, a local group that helps amplify teen voices, shape community projects, and take action on issues that affect young people and their peers.

🌟Community wellbeing is built in so many ways: through connection, prevention, education, youth leadership, and spaces where families feel supported🌟

We’re grateful for AMR, the Youth Action Board (Fremont County Department of Public Health & Environment - Colorado), and everyone who helped make this event possible for Fremont County families!

One of the simplest ways we can build connection is by noticing what helps people feel cared for 🤗 But not everyone needs the same kind of support.

Some people feel cared for when someone checks in.
Some people feel cared for when they are given space.
Some people feel cared for when someone remembers the details.
Some people feel cared for when they are listened to without being rushed.

This week’s Circle Question 🌟 What is one small thing that makes you feel cared for?

Your answer might be small, ordinary, or oddly specific. Anything counts--Let us know in the comments!

Listening helps people feel heard, supported, and less alone.

Who is helping people feel supported in our community? Let us know! Tag a local mental health resource, youth organization, community group, school support, nonprofit, or everyday helper in the comments.

There's a difference between listening to respond and listening to understand 👂

Restorative practices don't ask us to be perfect listeners--they invite us to slow down and notice impact before jumping straight to fixing, defending, or dismissing.

Tiny pause = big difference! 🌟

What helps you listen better when a conversation feels tense? Drop some wisdom in the comments below.
