Community Volunteers Needed for a Historic Celebration!

The American Legions of Salida and Buena Vista are proud to host a spectacular drone show at the Fairgrounds in Poncha Springs on Sunday June 28 as part of the celebration of two historic milestones: the 250th Anniversary of the United States and the 150th Anniversary of Colorado.

An event of this size and significance requires the support of many dedicated volunteers. We are asking members of our communities to help make this celebration a success by volunteering their time and talents.

Volunteer training will be at 10:00 am. If your assigned spot is later, you may leave and return. You may sign up for multiple consecutive time slots.

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available. Please use the link below to view available positions and sign up for a duty that fits your interests and schedule. You may forward this link to other people.

We are excited to be helping the American Legion posts of Buena Vista and Salida host a special drone show to celebrate two incredible milestones: the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 150th anniversaries of our local communities.

Putting on a drone show is a significant expense, and the American Legion has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help make this event possible for everyone to enjoy.

FIBARK is fast approaching and the Salida Community Center is gearing up for their annual pancake breakfast. Come enjoy pancakes and the fixings before watching the FIBARK parade.

The Salida Community Center is kicking off the 250th (USA) and 150th (Colorado) Celebration with a Community Cookout on May 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are again asking for volunteers to make this possible.

Join us on 3rd Street in front of the Community Center for burgers and hot dogs, with meat generously provided by Scanga.

All proceeds from the cookout will go toward the fireworks and the July 4th Celebration in Riverside Park. The July 4th celebration is hosted by the Salida Community Center to help raise funds for the Center’s operating expenses.

The Community Center is run entirely by volunteers from the surrounding area, and we could not continue providing valuable programs and services without the support of our community.
