What is Space to Create?
The intention for Salida Space to Create is to be an inclusive experience to ALL artists and creatives in Salida
(and surrounding areas).
Whether you already have housing and/or studio space, the idea of this project is to be a center for the arts. From having an artist resource center, to a kitchen for culinary arts, to a gallery and collaborative workshop space for any creative that wants to share or teach their craft and of course, a space for performing and musical arts.

After doing an economic impact study- found that Space to Create is incredibly beneficial to the community as whole. Here are four examples of how beneficial they can be ::

• Animating historic structures and vacant parcels.

• Fostering safer, more livable neighborhoods.

• Anchoring creative districts and expanding public access to art.

• Attracting and retaining year-round creatives, art groups and creative businesses to the area.

Why is the survey important?

The Salida Space to Create Survey is an important aspect to the project because it helps paint an accurate picture of what our arts community needs.
It tells us know who needs housing and/or studio space, who needs a commercial kitchen space or performing arts stage. It helps navigate the needs of community workshop space vs. private studio spaces as well as the need for a public gallery to share and sell work.
This project is intended to be inclusive of our entire arts community and that is why it’s important to hear from all of you!
