Come volunteer with SLC at our Fir Grove site in Salem, OR June 6th from 11am-1pm!!!

Together we will be identifying plants, animals, and insects to assist in our Restoration Plan. All you need to bring is your phone to use apps like iNaturalist Seek and the Merlin Bird app. We will be surveying your thoughts and opinions on what to do with the site so, if you're comfortable, come prepared to share!

You can sign up to volunteer through the QR code on the flyer or through the link below (https://forms.gle/G8E5W8jZsQLAvHru7). Looking forward to seeing you there!

✨✨ We had a beautiful interaction with a Barred Owl hunting in the Pringle Creek Corridor close to the Fir Grove ✨✨

This unique owl is not native to Oregon, but instead expanded its range possibly due to reduced habitat. Unfortunately, they unintentionally, actively displace our native Northern Spotted Owls due to their more aggressive nature. πŸ¦‰

Regardless, we are still honored to have interacted so closely to this resident of our area.

Take a few seconds to listen to our incredible Pringle Creek and birdsong. 🐦🌲

A huge part of the Fir Grove and Pringle Creek Community is the Pringle Riparian Corridor. This area is critical to plants, bugs, animals, and the health of our overall ecosystem. As we work on restoring the Fir Grove, it is important to remember that it used to actually be riparian area. 🐦🌲🌳
