Common Sense For Oregon

Common Sense For Oregon Common Sense For Oregon is a non-partisan organization committed to supporting Oregon's initiative and referendum system. Want to be part of the action?

Common Sense For Oregon is mainly concerned with four areas.

1) The "Oregon System"

--Common Sense For Oregon defends the "Oregon System" which consists of an inititaive, a referendum and a recall. We are against special interest groups who want to block citizen participation and government by restricting the "Oregon System."

2) Government regulations

--Our goal is to challenge statutes and

rules, which are unnecessary, too complicated or too broad. We want to press for a common sense approach to government regulation at the state and local level.

3) Taxes

--The tax system should be used so that individuals and businesses will pay their fair share in supporting necessary public services. The system should be simple, balanced and fair, it should not be used to punish success or as a social policing tool to redistribute income. We should encourage businesses and entrepreneurs who want to create jobs for Oregonians.

4) Public Safety

--Over the last 20 years, Oregon has made great progress in improving the public safety system as to support law enforcement agencies, hold criminals accountable and provide opportunity for rehabiliatation. We should continue on this path but be careful about those who would undermine accountability for crime. Sign up for our mailing list; http://www.commonsensefororegon.org

The estate tax is a popular tool to fight income inequality, but it violates the simple principle that similar people should have similar tax burdens.
