We believe every cat — feral, stray, or forgotten — deserves compassion, care, and a chance to be seen. Kokua Cats exists to support the people who fight for them, offering real resources, real hope, and a new way forward. Together, we’re changing the story: from fear to trust, from isolation to Ohana. Because when you care selflessly, you create something powerful. Every paw that steps into our lives carries a story.

One unspayed female. One unneutered male. That’s all it takes for the cycle to begin.

Cats can reproduce quickly, and kittens can become old enough to reproduce while they’re still kittens themselves. What starts as one litter can turn into generation after generation of cats needing food, shelter, medical care, and homes.

That’s why spay and neuter matters. 💙

For owned cats, getting them fixed prevents accidental litters and provides important health and behavioral benefits. For community cats, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is one of the most effective, humane ways to stop the cycle. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and returned to their outdoor homes.

Every surgery matters. Every litter prevented matters. And every person who chooses to spay, neuter, foster, trap, transport, or support TNR is helping create a future with fewer cats struggling outdoors.

You can’t rescue your way out of overpopulation. Prevention has to be part of the solution. 🐾🧡

Fred and Ginger were rescued as feral kittens living along the Willamette River — and after nearly a year in foster care, they’re still waiting for someone to choose them.

They’ve grown into confident, social young cats who enjoy companionship and have adapted beautifully to indoor life. Kitten season makes it easy for 1‑year‑olds to be overlooked, but these two have come so far and deserve their chance.

If you’re looking for young cats with resilience, personality, and a story worth rooting for, come meet them at PetSmart in Salem. They’ve waited long enough.
