The Greater Salem Area Foundation now has a Venmo account set up to accept donations. We are currently collecting for the Tornado Relief Fund that will be used to assist victims of the March 31, 2023 tornado. Checks may also be dropped off at Salem City Hall or mailed to the GSAF at PO Box 1314, Salem. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration!

United Way of South Central Illinois is holding an informative meeting with IDHA about mortgage assistance on Wednesday, January 11 from 5 - 8 PM. More information below:

Learn more about the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund and APPLY WITH US on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 5 pm - 8 pm at the Rolland Lewis Community Building (located at Veteran's Memorial Park) in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Representatives from the Illinois Housing Development Authority will be present, and we will work to complete applications with interested applicants on site. Please fill out the following form if you plan to attend: https://form.jotform.com/230024574050140

We will reach out to all attendees to ensure the appropriate documentation is brought the day of the Information Drive, assisting in the completion of your application. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.

The Greater Salem Area Foundation provides financial assistance for those facing hardship. Qualified assistance includes utilities, rent, and mortgage. Applications are available online for the Greater Salem Area Foundation. You may be eligible for assistance if you meet any of the following:

~ Live in Salem Community High School district; assistance is restricted to residents living in this geographic area.

~ Live at the residence you are requesting support for (you may not request assistance for rent or utility assistance for a home you do not live in)

~ Have background check approved
